Banco de Reservas in clear

The Dominican Association of Banks has published a paid advertisement in the dailies indicating that the statements made by the General Controller of the Republic, Víctor Grimaldi, on a Sunday television program, clears the Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana, and confirms that there has been no robbery nor fraud involving the Dominican Republic account. On the TV program, the Controller said that the evidence of the irregularities is in the non-reconciliation of the bank account in which the resources of the government are deposited.

The Association of Banks stated: “This Association wishes to confirm that the reconciliation of bank accounts is the responsibility of the owner of the account, and that the exercise seeks to verify that the movements and balances shown in the bank’s records are the same as in the customer’s records. This enables any differences that may become manifest to be corrected. The Association also stated that criticisms about the handling of government funds should be channeled through the competent bodies with the authority for banking supervision. It recognizes that the Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana has undergone an extensive program of restructuring and modernization that has allowed it to show notable progress, improve its financial services, and maintain a positive image in the country and abroad.
