Anisia Risi, the former director of customs who was accused of being a party to defrauding the State of over RD$1,000 million, sent to jail for several months and then freed, made the newspaper headlines again, reminding Dominicans that she is in town and enjoying her alleged new found wealth. A Santo Domingo court examined accusations against her and her son in law, in respect of a check made out to a person involved in purchasing a BMW car from her daughter, that was not paid through lack of funds. Miss Risi was later cleared by the court as she was not directly involved in the case. Those who accused her are trying to collect on a check for US$2,000.
