According to another poll, carried out by Penn and Schoen of the United States, the first round will have a very close finish. The company indicated on Wednesday, 10 April, that if the election were held today, the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano and the Acuerdo de Santo Domingo would obtain 42% of the vote, followed by the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana with 37%, and the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC), with 17%. If a second round is held, Leonel Fernández would win 51% of the vote, against the 43% for Peña Gómez, sufficient to win the election. The poll results confirm the Gallup forecasts that no candidate will obtain sufficient votes to win in the first round when fifty percent plus one vote is required. The Penn & Schoen poll was carried out between 8 and 14 March and surveyed 1002 persons eligible to vote. The representative of Penn & Schoen, Mr. Hank Seinkopf, said that in the United States, it is the company used by President Bill Clinton for his own political polls.
