Maribel meets Hillary

Last week, Maribel Gassó Diez, vice presidential candidate of the PRSC, campaigned in Miami, Florida. She participated in an event organized by the Fundación Nacional Dominico-Americana. A photograph published in the Listin Diario showed Maribel Gassó speaking with U.S. president’s wife, Hillary Clinton. Both were dressed in black, when they attended a banquet at the InterContinental Bayside Hotel to raise funds for the Democratic Party where Hillary Clinton was the main speaker. Maribel was invited to the event and upon being introduced, received warm applause from the more than 2000 people present, who were mostly women. Maribel was introduced to Mrs. Clinton by Gus García, the executive director of the Democratic Party in Dade County. Commenting on the meeting, she stated she was pleased to note the interest of Mrs. Clinton in the D.R. and answered her inquiries about the electoral process. In Miami, Maribel was accompanied by Dr Rafael Antun Batlle, coordinator of the Grupo de Apoyo which supports Jacinto Peynado.
