Jacinto Peynado and his plans for government

Jacinto Peynado promised that if he wins the election he will work to create a modern, harmonious state, that will be totally ethical so that its institutions may function properly. He said that there will be electricity, taxes will be collected, and that there will be more opportunities for business and more jobs. The government will support the promotion of tourism, exports and parity with NAFTA for textile exports.

He said that what is most important is to identify where we are going and who will take us there with security. He said that for the good of the country, things have to be done and done well. He supports the establishment of an ethics code that will govern the behavior of all civil servants, to stop corruption in detriment to the state. He said that an end must be put to the false criteria that he who enters government does so to ensure a pension or to obtain great benefits from the negotiation of contracts or granting of favors.

He said that in his government, the budget will be distributed in a fair way and then distributed in its totality. He said that he contemplates over RD$4,500 million for health, RD$400 million for sports, RD$250 million for tourism promotion, and will assign the funds needed for priority public works. He said he will grant no more than RD$300 million to the Presidency. In his opinion, large government projects, like airports, ports, railway lines and others, should be carried out by the private sector, and that they be given a fixed period of operation to recover their investment before the works are made government property.
