The Department of Immigration, together with the National Police, are investigating an alleged organization which includes immigration officers, accused of falsifying residency documents for foreigners in the D.R. According to sources contacted by El Nacional newspaper, the group charged between RD$8,000 and RD$10,000 per residency, which took between six months and a year to be processed. Six people, including four employees of the Department of Immigration connected with foreign residencies, have been detained. According to the Director of Immigration, Leonardo Duran Fajardo, the majority of those under investigation are from the south of the country and the Cibao.
