The National Attorney General, Abel Rodriguez del Orbe, called on the high-ranking members of government departments and institutions to present their financial statements, as dictated under law No. 82. The 30-day grace period has expired for most of those named on 16 August or shortly after. He said that only 27 have presented their statements, with many others having neglected their duty in this respect.
President Leonel Fernandez deposited his financial statement in the Treasury Department on 16 September, and in the 19 September edition of El Nacional newspaper it was reported that the President has a balance of RD$4,000,000, with RD$11,000,000 in active and RD$7,000,000 in fixed assets.
