National Palace is now a venue for protesters

Among the changes in politics in the D.R., that has come with the switch to a President who can see things for himself, after six years with blind President Balaguer, citizens now consider it a good idea to protest or seek government favors by parading in front of the National Palace with their banners. The government’s Secretario de la Presidencia, Danilo Medina, has received several committees of protesters in his office. The picketing is being undertaken by ordinary citizens, many from poor neighborhoods.
