President-elect Luis Abinader appointed his first three women governors. Abinader has said he will name women governors in all 31 provinces of the country. The governor is the representative of the President in those provinces. The Abinader administation begins on 16 August 2020.
The first named governors are:
Jacqueline Fernández Brito, La Romana
Pura Casilla, San Cristóbal
Lisette Nicasio de Adames, Hermanas Mirabal
