Defense Minister is the same; President changes commanders

With Decree 445-22, issued on 16 August 2022, President Luis Abinader changed all the commanders of the Army, Armada (Navy) and Air Force, but left the Minister of Defense Carlos Diaz Morfa. Prior to his appointment, Diaz Morfa was the military assistant to former President Hipolito Mejia (2000-2004), an influential member of the ruling political party, the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).

The new appointments in the military are:
National Army: Major General Carlos Antonio Fernandez Onofre replaces Major General Julio Ernesto Florian Perez.

Armada (Navy): Rear Admiral Francisco Antonio Sosa Castillo was promoted to vice admiral and appointed commandant general of the Navy, replacing Vice Admiral Ramon Gustavo Betances Hernandez.

Air Fore: Major General Carlos Ramon Febrillet Rodriguez was appointed commander general of the Dominican Republic Air Force, replacing Major General Pilot Leonel Amilcar Muñoz Noboa.

Presidential Security Corps (Cusep): Brigadier General Jimmy Arias Grullón (Army) is appointed head of the Presidential Security Corps, replacing Major General Celín Rubio Terrero.

Major General Julio Ernesto Florián Pérez (Army), is appointed Vice Minister of Military Affairs of the Ministry of Defense, replacing Major General Víctor Aecio Mercedes Cepeda, (Army), who, with the indicated rank, is placed in retirement status, with enjoyment of the corresponding pension, due to length of service.

In addition, Vice Admiral Ramón Gustavo Betances Hernández (Army), is appointed Vice Minister for Naval and Coastal Affairs of the Ministry of Defense, replacing Vice Admiral Joaquín Augusto Peignand Ramírez (Army), who, with the rank indicated, is placed in retirement status, with enjoyment of the corresponding pension, due to length of service.

Major General Leonel Amílcar Muñoz Noboa (Air Force), is hereby appointed Vice Minister for Air and Space Affairs of the Ministry of Defense, replacing Major General Juan Manuel Jiménez García (Air Force).

Brigadier General Miguel A. Rubio Baez, (Army), is promoted to Major General and appointed Inspector General of the Armed Forces, replacing Major General Jose Manuel Castillo Castillo Castillo, (Army), who, with the indicated rank, is placed in retirement status, with the corresponding pension.

Major General Pilot Juan Manuel Jiménez García, (Air Force), is hereby appointed Military, Naval and Air Advisor to the Executive Branch, to replae Major General Pilot Hugo Rafael González Borrell (Air Force), who, with the rank indicated, is hereby placed in retirement status, with enjoyment of the corresponding pension, due to seniority in the service.

Brigadier General Ángel Alfredo Camacho Ubiera, (Army), is hereby appointed Deputy Commander General of the Army, replacing Brigadier General Germán Francisco Fernández Liz (Army)

Colonel Felix Edwin Santana Morillo, (Army), is promoted to brigadier general and appointed inspector general of the Army, replacing Brigadier General Angel Alfredo Camacho Ubiera, (Army).

Rear Admiral Segundo Ventura Garcia, ARD. is appointed deputy commander general of the Navy, replacing Rear Admiral Henry Antonio Guzman Taveras (Army).

Also, Rear Admiral Juan Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez (Army), is appointed inspector general of the Navy, replacing Rear Admiral Segundo Ventura García, (Army).

Parachute Brigadier General Mauricio Ludovino Fernandez Garcia, Air Force, is appointed Deputy Commander General of the Air Force, replacing Brigadier General Pilot Moltiner Jose de Jesus Eusebio (Air Force).

Brigadier General Rafael C. Acosta Sena, (Air Force), is appointed Inspector General of the Dominican Republic Air Force, replacing Brigadier General Mauricio Ludovino Fenández García, (Air Force).
