Marileidy Paulino wins in Diamond League

Stellar Dominican sprinter, Marileidy Paulino, already an Olympic and World medal winner, added yet another win in her Diamond League season, this time in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In the 400m race, Marileidy Paulino is ranked 2nd in the world behind Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas. Sada Williams of Barbados is third.

Running her favorite 400 meter sprint, Marileidy Paulino clocked 49.94 sec. to defeat Sada Williams of Barbados. Fellow Dominican teammate, Fiordaliza Cofil came in third.

With this win, Paulino is within a point of first place in the Diamond League season’s rankings. She has 24 points, just behind Sada Williams and Stephanie Ann McPherson who each have 25. Cofil is in the top 10 with 18 points.

The Diamond League season offers cash prizes to event winners, bonuses to those who set meet or world records, and a larger cash bonuses to the season winner in each event.

Marileidy Paulino’s best time is 49.20 she did in the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021.
