The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) celebrated the V edition of its “Tourism Investment Forum” with a year-end of historical figures in the sector, particularly with investments of more than one billion dollars in projects in 2022, for more than 30% of overall foreign investment. The tourism industry is today 16% of Gross Domestic Product.
The president of the National Hotel & Tourism Association (Asonahores), Rafael Blanco Tejera highlighted that the sector generates more than 570,000 direct and indirect jobs and that this year the country will close with more than US$8.4 billion in tourism receipts. Blanco Tejera spoke on occasion of the 5th Tourism Investment Forum at the Hotel Embajador.
He attributed the success to the close relationship and unified government and private sector strategies. He spoke of the government’s investment promotion policies, fiscal stability with clear long-term policies, labor stability, tourism infrastructure, the aggressive policy of air connectivity and the public-private alliances.
