
The Dominican delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) is proud about returning with a global commitment for low cost financing of up to US$40 million for the management of the Yaque del Norte and Yuna river basis, for sustainable agriculture production, green financing and access to technology, as reported in El Dia.
Members of the delegation to the Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt conclave, Max Puig, executive vice-president of the National Council for Climate Change; Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz; Deputy Minister of Environment Milagros De Camps; and the senator for the National District, Faride Raful, explained mission achievements in an interview with the Corripio media group.
The Dominican Republic is now part of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS). The country will now have access to a Loss and Damage Mechanism, a new source of financing in cases of emergencies caused by climate change.
