The Minister of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Carlos Diaz Morfa, has announced his ministry’s full support for the efforts of the Center for Emergency Operations (COE) to reduce traffic fatalities to a minimum and to assist the public in their enjoyment of the longest holiday of the year. Schools closed on Friday, 31 March 2023 for the week long Easter extended holiday. Easter Friday is the holiday, but many companies give their employees more days off. Unless you are going to a shopping mall or tourism business, do not expect to find staff at their jobs as of Easter Wednesday.
The ministry has three helicopters prepared for search and rescue, and has added 24 mobile vehicular repair shops to assist folks that have mechanical issues.
The COE safety operation includes 48,000 people between volunteers and multiple government entities.
