Puerto Plata reached a new record in cruise arrivals for one day this December. On Tuesday, 19 December, five ships docked on the same day bringing 27,313 visitors to the north coast province’s two ports – Taino Bay and Amber Cove.
Edgar Lantigua, Listin Diario correspondent, reported that the arrivals were:
Amber Cove:
Carnival Celebration with 6,275 passengers and 1,763 crew
Carnival Vista with 4,738 passengers and 1,417 crew
Taino Bay:
Grandeur of the Seas with 2,300 passengers and 771 crew
Norwegian Encore with 4,903 passengers and 1,631 crew
Scarlett Lady with 2,347 passengers and 1,168 crew
The regional director of tourism, Atahualpa Paulino spoke of how the visitors boost the local economy as they enjoy Dominican hospitality, explore the country and see the attractions.
