
Wilfredo Alemany’s life history is as impressive as any other TV news commentator. He passed away after a lengthy bout of illness. He worked in numerous media and government entities. He passed away of a heart attack on Tuesday, 4 June 2024, his widow Mencia Ortiz announced. He is known to have been suffering from mental illness.
The wake of 75-year old lawyer, journalist and politician Wilfredo Alemany will take place as of Friday at the Funeraria Blandino in Santo Domingo to give time to his offspring to travel to the Dominican Republic.
Alemany leaves behind an impressive career as a lawyer, politician and especially as a journalist. He is survived also by his five children. His younger three children are the offspring of journalist Maria Elena Nuñez. His son Marel is married to journalist Diana Lora and they now live in Canada.
Alemany hosted and participated in leading TV and news commentator programs, including Hoy Mismo,
Buenas Noches and Trialogo. He served as spokesman for the Central Electoral Board (JCE) in 1998-2000. He also served as strategic communications director for the Punta Catalina power plant (2017).
