President-elect Hipólito Mejía will expand the Fernández administration program that for the first time has provided public school students access to computer instruction. Nazir Atallah, appointed director of the "Informatica para Todos" program of the new government that starts 16 August, says that the plan is to expand computer science education into the elementary levels. The present program introduced high school students to computers. During the electoral campaign, Mejía was very critical of the computer programs installed by the PLD government, mocking President Fernández’s personal interest in reducing the digital divide.
