New fiber optic installations for Tricom

Altice telecom company chief executive Abdelhakim Boubazine says that it will invest RD$3 billion in the operations of each of its two affiliates in the Dominican Republic, Orange and Tricom, this year. He said that the company has already disbursed 30% of the total budget. Boubazine said that the goal for this year is to install fiber optic cabling for 200,000 households and they have already connected 15,000 households to improve Tricom service, as reported in Diario Libre.

He announced that the fiber optic cables are being installed mainly in the Cibao region.

The telecoms executive told Diario Libre that an agreement has been signed with Huawei for improvements in the Orange cell phone service. The Orange expansion plan also includes the installation of 1,000 new antennae for improved service coverage.
