President-elect Hipólito Mejía announced that Fernando Alvarez Bogaert is his choice for Minister of Finance. He also announced former governors of the Central Bank Hugo Guiliani Cury and Carlos Despradel, as well as economist-businessman Manuel José Cabral will be appointed to the Monetary Junta in the Mejía administration that starts 16 August 2000.
