Insurance companies had to make payments on claims for RD$707 million last year for the many traffic accidents in the DR. El Siglo reports that last year Dominican exports to European Union countries were more than US$141.5 million. The principal exports were coffee, bananas, tobacco, cocoa, citrics, and the industrialized products such as footwear, cigars, apparel and furfural.
