August payroll up 1.3%

El Caribe newspaper reports that payroll expenditures of the Mejia government increased 1.3% from July to August. The newspaper points out that the President had announced the freezing of payroll expenditures. Regardless, the government spent RD$19 million more to pay employees in August than in July, according to the National Budget publication.
