The Ministry of Public Health has prohibited the sale of water in small bags. The Ministry warns that the packaging does not meet minimum sanitary safeguards. Resolution 021235 establishes that the department will confiscate trucks found selling water in bags. The bags sell for RD$1 versus small bottles of water that go for RD$5-RD$10 each.

Consumers have received credits for RD$26 million on their monthly bills from electricity distributors. Jose Ovalles, Electricity Superintendent, said the total includes RD$16 million demanded by Santiago companies for excess billing by the distributors.
