Attorney General Victor Cespedes said yesterday that agents of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) are not legally able to make arrests for traffic law violations. AMET agents are neither allowed to confiscate drivers licenses, a common practice. To avoid this, drivers can carry copies of their license to deliver upon request by the agent.

The Mejia administration’s Pardons Commission announced it could pardon the sentences of another 600 inmates by 27 February. During the four-year term of President Leonel Fernandez a total of 572 prisoners were pardoned.
