Too many on government payroll

42 million metro fares

The Metro Office (OPRET) says that they have sold 42 million fares over the first two years of Metro operations. OPRET deputy director Leonel Carrasco mentioned the exemplary discipline of metro passengers. He said the government subsidy totaled US$40 million. Metro tickets are sold for RD$20.
