Hamilton Campaigns 10-13 May poll shows PLD candidate Danilo Medina leading Hipolito Mejia of the PRD 52%-43%. Voters answered the question: “If the election were held today, for whom would you vote?” Hamilton interviewed 1,200 eligible voters. The margin of error is said to be 2.8%.

Government increases its payroll this year

In an election year, the Central Government increased its already bloated payroll by RD$272 million. Dominicans paying more taxes

The Department of Taxes reports that Dominicans paid 23.3% more in ITBIS, the value-added tax on sales. The government reaped RD$810.2 million more in March 2012, than in March 2011. The ITBIS reported to the government totaled RD$4 billion.
