The Central Bank has announced that a new version of the RD$200 bill will be circulating as of Monday, 16 September. The bill will now read “pesos dominicanos” or Dominican pesos instead of “pesos oro” or gold pesos. The old bill will still be valid and will circulate alongside the new bill.

The amendments to the contract signed with Barrick Gold mining company go to the Senate for approval on Tuesday, 10 September.
