Also, where is the transparency in this studio deal. Seems the Dominican government has there sticky fingers in the bowl. When the Gov of New York makes deals with businesses including the movie industry there is full disclosure of what the deals are. That is why from day one the incoming Gov of R.I. said the Studio 38 deal was no good from the start.
Where is the money coming from for this project? Yeah, we know. The companies involved in the deal. But where is that money coming from? What kind of tax breaks and benefits are there once movies are being filmed. All i see is pictures. And press releases. How does this deal help the little guy Rubio is talking about. Who got the contracts to build this mess. No transparency at all.
The Law and tax breaks are PUBLIC and open to all to see!
The investment was an OPEN issue to the public and the two parts involved are $$$ well to do.
The benefits to the DR are clear as water, as people (as in locals) will get jobs in a previous non-existent sector of the industry. Taxes from actor's pay checks will be collected. Etc...
This is just one of three (3) studios to begin operating in the DR in the the next 2 years alone with direct investment and zero "0" public funds or subsidies of any kind.
Who gets to build the actual studios? That's info that only the owners of the project can say or care to disclose as they are NOT required to do so by DOMINICAN LAW!
But you only need to waltz by the site and pick the name of the builder from their equipment!
