Hey, babe, I'm just a nincompoop; I'm a shit-head and a loser, not even a Texas lover.

Since most of my little comments invoke memories of thick syrup with the "cool" and cultured set, I will then resort to true-and-tried clich?s: If you give the loving, honey, I got the time.

...Y como el valor del instrumento no se mide en el estuche, together you and I should be able to make beautiful music...

I know what you mean about Texas. So if you ever find yourself in Florida, let?s exchange love notes over un cafecito: I?ll blow your trumpet while you tickle my ivories. And I guarantee you my loving will make you forget all about the "cool and cultured", and will show you how much I resemble el caf?: dulce, caliente...y quito el sue?o!

Well, Jose?to, technically, the North has been doing it all along...

I'm still in NYC, but I'm moving to Florida this weekend. So, if you like and if you hurry, we just might make it to the good ol' Ed Sullivan Theatre on the Avenue of the Americas and catch Mr. Letterman's show. After, we'll stroll through the newly-named Juan Pablo Duarte Boulevard in Quisqueya Heights for some empanadas de yuca, chicharrones de pollo y morir so?ando--en el ?Restaurante 27 de Febrero?, no less. Then we'll waltz over to Jubilee where El Gringo de la Bachata and Fefita La Grande will remind us of all the reasons why we're happy to be Dominican. (Ay, que tigueraje!)

Otherwise, te espero in Southwest Ranches, babe, where we'll drink, get goofy and bother the horses to the sounds of Molly Hatchet (and I'm glad you buried it) and Janis Joplin. This time, the South is gonna do it again, pero sin trampas.

Damn! Imagine Me and Me (you) at Letterman's, and bachata later on, and then walking on the wild side down in EF EL AI?

So, since you are leaving W. Heights, who's gonna guide me inside Guggenheim to where the Clycladic stuff is located? I'll find my way, but I was hoping you would, and hand-in-hand, to boot.

Although my hair ain't colored yellow, can you still be my Linda Lou when we cut the rug at a place called The Jug?

Back to what the post is about!

I tend to agree with the general consensus that renaming the Las Americas airport Jose Francisco Pe?a Gomez was inappropriate. Whether he is Haitian or not, is not what is at question here. To be named after the principal International airport, that receives visitors from all over the World, the figure needs to have won this great honor. Pe?a Gomez has never been President and has only held the position of Mayor of Santo Domingo. To have been the President of a Political party is no great feat.

He was a renouned Socialist and an excellent public speaker. But never achieved anything in a historical context that warrants him the honour of having his name given to this airport. In 20 years time people will ask who and why did they ever put this guy's name.

Whatever. Whatever. Whatever. Tell us something we haven't heard.

Anyway, if you're truly upset over the naming of the airport, go take it up with Hip?lito Mej?a.

Alright, Drake, back on topic.

Is there some natural law which dictates that presidents are the only heroes?
Are presidents heroes?

Caama?o De?? (Army Col.) was a hero to some of us, but is there anything of significance named in his honor?

But, you know, maybe you people are right. Maybe we should only name stuff after presidents and the likes.
Avenida Augusto Pinochet. Estadio Anastasio Somoza. Ciudad Trujillo. Liceo Secundario Adolfo Hitler. Mussolini Park.
Oh, I'm forgetting something: Avenida Juan Pablo Duarte? But why? He was not a president. Yeap, gotta go, Pablito. Sorry, dude. It is now La Avenida Lil?.

At the end of days, we don't need the names but the legacy.

Good news and bad news. Good news: Bush is president. Bad news: there ain't no bad news. Noooooo. None. Nada. No unemployment, no 9-11, no market crash, no wars, no affirmative action (sorry, U. of Mich. prospective students), no privacy.

How can any man who is Logical, intelligent, rational, non-racist be for afirmative action is beyond my comprehension!
Oh wait! It is because nobody who is logical, intelligent, rational and non-racist is for afirmative action!

Tony C...

You've said that stuff about Pinochet in earlier posts. How can you? Unless you do it to hurt those who suffered under his regime.

That's cool. I'm saving money to give him a vacation in Madrid.

But you ARE addicted to the opiate of the masses. Aren't you one of those ultra-conservative Christians?

The last thing Tony C. would do is bring GUEVARA'S name up in this thread. After I mentioned M?ximo G?mez a few months ago, he did not post for weeks. He was veklempt.

Josie! You have a lot to learn about life.
Ask the regulars on DR1 what I think about most organized religions!
Funny how you mention Maximo Gomez...Did you know that a few days ago his grandson passed away? Seems he died from kidney failure. You see he lost one kidney in one of Fidel's prisons and the other was badly damaged by all the beatings he recieved in 22 years of incarceration under "your guys" regime.

What a brave guy that Spanish judge! Signing a paper to charge a 80 year old man then spending time as a darling of the Left.

Martin Sheen? LOL Look up limosine liberal and you will see his picture.

Jesse Jackson? LMAO You mean the Tax Dodging, philandering, Racist?

Che? What did he ever accomplish except to be the model for a best selling poster at Berkley? I love the fact that it was a bunch of Indians led by a Free Cuban that poped him!

George Ryan? tell that to the victims!

But why do you call me 'Josie'? No offense taken, but why?

As far as G?mez's grandson..., well, kids don't always turn out like their parents. I'm sure Barbara Bush is a good person.
