For the man cartera is his wallet. For the woman cartera is her handbag. I never heard a Dominican use the word maletita, sounds more mexican. The holdall is a bulto.

Culo is no problem among spaniards. Another word that has a strange connotation among dominicans is bolsa. You never hear it in the sense of bag, always funda.

Así es.

Bolsa is slang for testicles. And a man's purse is called mariconera.

Well I am not going to argue against this group of women you can call your handbag a cartera no matter what size it is and just forget about the word bolso ..and you can call your duffle bag or small travel bag a bolsa and forget about a mochila or a maletita because ita is the dimunitive in all spanish speaking countries and really I suppose every one will have a rough idea what you are saying
