According to Wikipedia, the 787 has a Take off distance at maximum weight of 3,100m. SDQ can easily host the 787, PUJ could in theory, but POP, AZS and STI cannot.
At 3,355m, SDQ's runway is in theory long enough for virtually any commercial aircraft, including the A380. Even the largest aircraft in the world, the Antonov An-225 landed once at SDQ.

The 787 is a midsize jet, much closer to the 777 than to the 747 (the one you probably refer to)

I'm not aware of the runway dimensions at AZS, STI and POP, but if they are weight restricted, in theory they might. It'd be nice to see the A380 visit Dominican airports as well. At the moment, Air France is the only airline I know with such aircraft with service to the DR. However, according to their business model this airplane is not suited for the DR. In addition, I'm not sure if any of the Dominican airports can handle the A380. Runway length is not a problem, but taxi ways, jet ways and in the case of PUJ a truck with a big enough ladder (or lack thereof) may be a different story. I also heard that Transaero has expressed interest or has already ordered the A380. If PUJ is suited for the A380, Transaero could be the first one in the DR with the 380.

787 should be no problem for PUJ

That said, I would not like to board one at all at the moment. I will stick to newly refurbished 767 by Condor.

Would it have killed them to use a picture of the 787 actually on the ground in PUJ?
Cheap buggers.

i think it is rude and in bad taste of you to point that out. can't you just cheer for periodismo dominicano every once in a while? would it kill you to be more gullible? ;)

The article makes a big statement about how the D.R. is the first Caribbean destination of the B-787. I 've read many times before that Cancun is also part of the Caribbean. If this is the case, then honor goes to Cancun; not the D.R. I believe that Thomsonfly flew its 787 bird to Cancun before they flew it to PUJ.

take this with a grain of salt. there is nothing that Dominican officials love more than bragging rights, even if they are incorrect, and/or meaningless.

Arriving from London - 1/Nov/2013 (pictures by Manuel Otero)

What a beauty. I think Boeing hit it out the park with this flying machine. Props to them.
It was about time someone stood up to Airbus, who have been getting lazy lately. Competition is always good.

According to Transaero they will be using their A380 to PUJ in 2015 regularly.

Airbus getting lazy???
Not quite:
The world's largest airframe producer.

A350
A 330 series
A 330 Tanker
A380
A 310/319/20 Series
A 440M
And lots of new technology in the research phase from spaceplane to supersonic.

Etc....

I do like Boeings though.
