DR Troubles

Just emailed Shepard Smith at Fox News. Invited him to read the posts on DR1 and since Fox news has not covered anything that is taking place that he might step forward and be the voice. Also emailed both State Senators trying to get the word out.

What about another angle here.......I know a decline in tourist will hurt many people even more but if tourists understand what's going on and agents make the threat of no recommending DR as a destination until things get better would that boycott help in any way? Just a thought......

On another note, what about the countries that have/do supply foreign aid/loans.....I will see if I can find out about Canada. This IS public info since it's our tax dollars at work.

Good or Bad?

Ken,

Why the post of the response?
Just curious does that upset you?
Or motivate you to email all the rest of the links that I provided and continue to do so untill they send a response that says hey man we got the message and we are planning to do a story on this date at this time?
LOL, I am sure they do get alot of ideas. The point is for us "ALL" "THE MORE THE BETTER" to stay focused on this particular idea that pertains to this partuicular subj.

ANYWAY THANKS KEN FOR SENDING IN YOUR IDEA. NOW PLEASE SEND A EMAIL TO THE CARTER CENTER DIRECTOR!

I would rather have my nipples scratched off with extra coarse Sandpaper than to have anything to do with any organization with ties to Jimmy Carter.

Are you guys just ignorant or forgetful?

Hippo is in Power because of Jimmy Carter's assistance. This is a man who Hugged Fidel Castro and just the other day said that he has full faith in Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his commitment to the recall petition and Voting.

You guys are barking up the worng tree there

Poquito,

Over the years I have made suggestions and taken action. Just becuase you write a few E-mails does that make you the "Great DR saviour?"

The E-mail campaign is full of good intentions but I do not see much comming from it. It will be just buried under an avalanche of E-mails from people writing about everyplace from Azerbijan to Zimbabwe.

My suggestion is a more pro-active one.
Many of us live in cities that have a large Latin-American/caribbean community with Spanish language radio. Call in to the many talk shows. Voice your concerns.

Recruit a celeb. preferably a Non-Dominican one. Nobody will care about Sammy Sosa talking politics but They love a gringo.

Center your activities in the US around 3 major Cities. NYC, Miami and Washington D.C.. Nobody in DesMoines cares about the D.R.
Contact politicians running for Office in NYC and Miami. One sound bite from a Al Sharpton, Bloomberg, Hilary or Penelas is worth more than 10,000 e-mails. Always remember that Politics make strange Bedfellows.

Think outside the box. Contact organizations that you might not think related to the Dominican situation. Enviromental groups, Children advocacy Groups, Business organizations.

Get Dominican's in the US more active and push them to the front. Aside from a celeb, people do not appreciate when a foreigner bashes their country and because of that they don't take it as serious. Recruit Dominican's to call in shows and write letters.

Look out for PRD fraud and illegal activities in the states. Bring them to the attention of the Local and federal law enforcement agencies.

There is one Non-Profit organization in the US that is just a shill for the PRD and is being used to not only raise funds for Hippo's campaign but is also laundering money. I have pointed it out to a couple of Federal agencies and I know that is under investigation.

Pib,
The Jimmy Carter center list the DR as one of their sucess stories. Do not think that they will now turn around and call it a failure. I bring this up because I believe that efforts to solicite help from them would be wasted energy that could be directed to other organizations.

Gawd this is terrible Tony. A whole bunch of directives. With nothing to go on. Typical TonyC behavior towards a few of my posts now. Sorry I got involved people!
But I have a new hope called the OAS the organization of american states. I am getting the info now from the jimmy carter center. These OAS people monitor elections.

I Agree With You All !

I have read very carefully all of your comments, that it seems as though the approach is to call attention to this matter via media outside the country.

While reading your comments regarding the Jimmy Carter foundation, it does seem as though they (the foundation) really does not want to get involved.

Idea!! You need a real Muckraker to call attention to this. Someone who'd love to bring out the "ugly".....my personal thought is to have someone point out how the Carter Foundation helped to get this moron elected in the first place and now seems to have chosen to ignore the disaster that it helped create.

Soooo......Bill O'Reillly at Fox News...he's a guy who loves to sink his teeth into stuff like this. He also has a nationwide radio program on Westwood One Radio.

Bill can be found at oreilly@foxnews.com or billoreilly.com

Get your thoughts together, bring up the Carter Foundation...and start the campaign. Remember he is the guy who brought out all of the corruption in the Red Cross following 9/11.

Good Luck....and don't give up!!

Bill O' Reilly?! But that's like making a pact with Belzebu!

Sorry, I am a helpless liberal. I suppose a bit of romping in the hay with the devil will not ruin my chances for salvation any more now. What the heck!

People pls. send your emails.

If you think there are better things we coudl do, go do it.

If you think this is a waste of time. OK. I respect your views.

If you think this could work but don't do anything you're not better than people that don't vote out of laziness. It's only a couple of minutes of your time.

Remember, you may not be Dominican, but if you live here or have interests here you'll be just as screwed as the ones who carry yellow cedulas if these people can get away with stealing the election.

O'Reilly is bad but Carter is Good? Jeez Pib you need to get out more or go over your History. I am still waiting for somebody to show me one Sucess of Carter. Besides building cheap housing for Lazy people.

Poquito,

I was just giving suggestion. What? Am I suppose to do everything for you?
Life is about priorities. While the DR is high on my list it is not on the top. My Contacts are to be used when I see fit at the right time.
You just recently come on DR1 screaming about saving the DR. I have been a member of this board for years and have ties to the Dominican Republic that go back to the Mid 70's. What I have done to help the DR makes your E-mail Campaign look pale. I don't need to list them nor do I want to. I do not do it for attention. I do it because it is the right thing to do.
I admire you enthusiasm but you need to understand that any attempt to try to shame me into a action that you want me to do will just fall by the wayside.
I will continue to do what I can to help the DR be a better place in my own way. IF you need any advice, Ideas or Direction I am here. If you just want to critisize me because I don't agree with your methods the you are just wasting bandwith.
F.Y.I. My suggestions and Ideas are for everyone on this fourm. I gave ideas for contacts. When I decide one of my contacts can be used for this endeavour I will produce it. Until them use the Internet and the Phone book.

Does It Really Matter?

Pib..

Does it really matter just how the results happen? Isn't the end result the most important thing?

My name is not Machiavelli. :) Anyways, go ahead you US citizens and contact O'Belzebu. I don't think he's too interested in what I have to say. He might listen to you though.

Tony, it's great that you offered help. For us that are here in the DR and/or are Dominicans what you suggest is not so easy. Why don't you start another thread? That way you can clearly explain what you propose and people could see if they can do it.

I'd Love To Help

Pib,

As a frequent visitor to the D.R., I would love to help you. But not living there I'm not as informed on the complications of the situation as you or others who must experience the day to day consequences as a result of such a government.

This is not about being Liberal or Conservative, this is about calling attention to the matter and trying to do something about it. It's about trying to make a difference by getting the attention of those who "have the power" to do so.
