I will try to answer for Ken. I'm a risk taker and I go with my intuition. Notwithstanding, cultural differences, age, socioeconomics etc. I believe that 2 people can still connect if there is mutual respect and a spiritual bond between them. Each party contributes to the relationship in their own way.

I have previously shared way too much personal info to all concerned and that was on me.
Let's just leave things as they are without further explanation. Suffice it to say that, a "spiritual bond" can exist between individuals. I have experienced this before in my life and know what it feels like. If you have to ask what it is, you will never have the ability to understand because it transcends the spoken word.

Ken, an aparthotel is like a long-term rental in a hotel - there might be a kitchenette or something similar. It sounds like you are looking for a short-term solution to 'test the waters' so to speak with your chica. This might be an easy way to go about it. Also, you could consider negotiating with an Air B n' B host for a better price on a long-term stay. You mentioned a couple of months so please consider this option. Renting an apartment can be a lot of work in the DR, the kind of work that gives you a big headache.
