Dude, whatever you're on, I hope you give it up soon. News flash, I'm Dominican. Although far from perfect, my people are warm, welcoming, loud, intense, loving, friendly to a fault perhaps, and on and on. Get a clue!

I never said they were none of the above. I'm just saying they are incompetent and corrupt.......dangerously so. Look at the country and its history. Speaks for itself.

I will say something else about the DR. It may sound strange but to me its the unvarnished truth. The DR can be more dangerous than Somalia or Afghanistan for foreigners. It sounds crazy but here is my logic. Foreigners that go to places like Somalia or the "Stan" know what they are getting themselves into. They are usually soldiers or aid workers or spies. They know the risks. Most of the gringos that come to the DR know nothing. They just think since it is the Caribbean it is nothing to worry about. I mean we don't hear about buildings blowing up and civil war here and terrorism...and therein lies the danger. Gringos come here and let their guard down. Few soldiers go to Somalia or Afghanistan and let their guard down and those that do come back home in boxes. Some foreigners that come here to the DR return home in boxes to. There has been about 40 gringos murdered in the DR since 2010.

The unwary foreigener can find him or herself in really dangerous situations here simply because they didn't realize the danger in the first place. That is why I say the DR is can be more dangerous than Somalia. Everyone knows what Somalia is. The risks. The risks of the DR are much less apparent until they manifest themselves. Keep that in mind when you move here.

I'm not saying that anyone should panick. But are you denying the 34+ foreigners that have been murdered here since 2010? Thats a high murder rate for a vacation destination. And are you denying that the legal system doesn't favor foreigeners? You know what happens if you get into a car accident here right? Hear about that British woman that is serving years in a DR jail because she accidentally hit her Dominican boyfriend? She is pleading for help. How about Art Tallow? Hear what happened to him? The DR isn't as safe as you think. Ask the African American guy that is being held hostage here because his apartment caught on fire. The Dominican police want him to pay $10 grand or spend 30 years in prison for a fire he says he didn't start. Or ask the family whose daughter is dead because dumb Dominican doctors gave her too much medication during a routine surgical procedure.

Its hard to understand for me. Bruce Lee was on another level. That book is not for people looking for an easy read. It won't be.

I understand why it's hard for you to understand.
Bruce lee studied life, its movements and how to be in harmony with all.
You study life by reading books or watch movies which you don't understand.
Maybe another approach to life would be good?
If not then get some medication.

Father in law has an apartment building in Herrera but I am not staying there.

I'll be in Mirador Norte. Well from what I understand sector lines were redrawn. So now I'm told its called Renacimiento.
Ok..,that's a whole different story....Leonardo Davinci street etc. near Los Cacicazgos. Good neighborhood.

300:Rise of an Empire is easy to understand. Regarding Lee and his philosophy it is hard to be in harmony with life when life is absurd and meaningless. You know everything will die eventually right? You me everyone here on DR1 even this planet and our Sun. The universe to. Why be in harmony with something that will one day not exist anyway?

See it doesn't matter whether I'm in harmony with life or not. The outcome is the same. Even Lee. He was in harmony? And what is the thanks he got? He got cut down in his prime. From what? Aspirin. Ironic you mention me needing to take meds. It was meds that killed him.

The women are overrated. Please stop. Men like you are ruining DR women because they think they are God's gift to mankind. They are not. Dominican women are second rate in bed and terrible conversationists and I've been with enough of them to know ;)

I have been trying the website "dominican cupid" for 3 weeks now, just to get a feel of what type of women are available in the Dr...and so far, I have yet to find a woman who does not have 2 or three kids...

Your life will end one day also, you don't wanna have harmony in your life?
Aspirin killed Bruce Lee?

Please tell us again why you are here. I forgot. I think you said it once. I don't understand why you would continue to stay in a place you despise so much. Why be so unhappy??? I can be any place in the world, and I am here. If I come to dislike so many things and people (worse yet), I will leave. That will not be any time soon though. Different places treat people different. I bet you can find a place you like better. I found Mexico after 6 years had changed and the people there too (because they are sad about the violence). No reason to be there any more.

yes, your people are loud yeah! i lived in the netherlands, london, antwerp and miami, i know it's just a view places but after a while you get an overall idea of how people are like!

i have never ever came across men??? who are begging me for this that and whatever! men!!! i have no desire to fully insult your people and maybe it's also because i'm just 27 and i'm not around 40+ men with jeeps and kids so maybe it's my environment also.

but from my youngsters in different barios, to uasd, to bars, to discos, the begging of these people is oooh man.. then the inteligence! i mean at a certain point your brain isn't get stimulated anymore, if day in day out all you come across is stupidity then to go home to luckily still be in contact with your own people who are able to let the brain function again then the differences you're brain is processing is a lot of basura your people thrown at you!

on an other note, it's this forum who made me think about the "dominican with the jeep".

i think if you're around that circle and those type of people you won't deal a lot with the type of people i refer to. i mean i compared a week of only taking taxi and only taking guaguas. that alone could be a deal breaker.

at the end of the day it is the people who you are around with that could make you enjoy it here more or less. it doesn't make sence to riding around in a benz to spend your time with people who only move around in guaguas.

(before anyone attacks me, i'm mr. guagua also, i'm not on the benz / jeep level)

also on a funny note and i feel bad for saying it but the more blankita they are it seems the nicer they live and the less you're being around stupidity. when i'm in the good neighbourhoods with the girls who have daddy who could buy them iphone, bb and ipad then it just feels like normal and all the bs i deal with dissappears.

so my only warning would be: interact with people who are on your level, people who are under yours or below you will drag you into theirs!

I already gave a list months ago so I won't do that again. What I will tell you is that the best benefits of living in the DR are NOT THE PEOPLE. This includes the women. The women, prostitution wise, are cheap in price but so are their services, they are no match for a $1,000 an hour top rated American ex pornstar, in looks or performance. I've been with them so I should know. If you want mind blowing sex save your money and hire top rated American girls. If you want cheap but mediocre sex come to the DR.

The best part about living in the DR is the lifestyle. The weather. The beach. I'm indifferent to Dominicans themselves and sometimes find them annoying. They tend to be backward, incompetent, corrupt, or all the above. There are good Dominicans to but they seem to be underrepresented. The energy costs are also a benefit, last month my power bill was $12, clearly you will never see a $12 power bill in the USA. If you can look past the people the DR is wonderful. If not you won't like it here.
Daaang DS. 1K/hr for an ex pornstar?? Do you hear an echo when you're bushhoggin that used up p***y? Give me mediocre sex any day. I'll bank the 1K

I wish I was told that there is 18% tax on nearly everything I purchase and that going out to dinner ( which I do a lot ) will cost me another 30%+ over the price of the meal. Crazy when you're on a date. Now I know why men order for the woman. LOL

Is it true Dominican senators make $450k+ in pesos per month?
