Different people different scenarios

Harden the F up is not what I need to hear
I live and work in Houston ,born in Germany
so flying home to start my paperwork is more than irritating and an expense and time consuming
cant call home right quick and have Mom send me some missing paperwork that needs to be ueber apostilled

but I am glad you got yours :)

Manu
I went home for a week (Tampa) and came back last night with apostilled documents.

A hassle? Indubitably. But it is what it is. If I want to stay, I have to play by the rules. If they were overlooking the rules, I prolly wouldn't have done it.

But I'm hardened the f@k up.

Sorry about your case Manu, but its too little too late.
He who hesitates is lost.

I can promise you this.... somebody here has a worse situation than your sad story
In fact, she is a poster here on DR1

Get on with it man/woman

Whining gets nothing.... we're here to help but this isn't the church confessional where you walk in and walk out absolved.

You are in control of your life...... get on with it.

Law abiding, but not 'tonto'

Don,
What is wrong about being a law abiding resident?
Nothing.
I received my first residency permit in 1996, I think, and have been renewing them since them.

The exit door is wide open for people who don't like the system.
What system? :cheeky:

There is hardly a functioning 'system' in this country.
Although the laws are as good as in any civilized country, they are not obeyed, respected, applied or enforced as soon as high shots or the right amount of money comes along.

Yet, I have arranged to live with this 'system' and adapted. : bunny:

The regulations for the renewal of residency permits being in force now are obviously applied differently (from what I gather from various posts).
Many residents are biding their time hoping that reason sets in or diplomatic talks bring about an acceptable procedure.

I find it strange that seemingly no Americans or Canadians have seen it appropriate or useful to contact their embassies or consolates in order to seek help in fighting the new annoyance.

But all right, some folks seem to be accustomed to live with the most idiotic laws... :classic:

Huh?
That's why you came here?
Just wait what they have in store for you...

Canadians rarely object..... they get p!ssed about losing hockey games (Vancouver)
They kill the odd diplomat (PQ's in the 70's)

But rarely do they "Buck the system" as you promote

You seem to like to post - no matter what....
have you spoken to a mirror lately?

You might find that entertaining.... can't lose the argument there

Welcome HOME CB... good for you.
Thanks, but it's no big dealio.

I deserve the hassle I've gone through.

I HAD documents, even an officially translated and "consularised" birth certificate. I had a criminal background check, notarized. I had it all.

BUT...

I was lazy. I just didn't do much about residency for a while. It wasn't that important in a "sense of urgency" way because I have assets and three businesses here. I had two false starts, one a lawyer took a deposit and disappeared.

The rules changed and I was advised the assets ~could~ be in jeopardy under the new rules, as in I'd have a real problem if the DR gubmint refused me entry for overstaying a tourist visa.

So I just sucked it up and am doing it.

No need to complain. It's MY fault, not the DR gubmint. I can't hold THEM responsible for my own sloth and laziness.

Just do it.

Onward.

Excuses!
From the above I deduce that you were / still are in the country illegally?
And you are telling people (whose residency is still valid) to "Harden the f@k up!" :tired:

you are losing your mind............

Read it again..... SLOWLY.....

those 'interlopers' need to "Harden the f@ck up"

that's the comment.

Some of them (CB included and even 'Ol Tom' aka CCCCCCCCCCC) are stepping up

again, It matters squat why they are late in in complying.......

It matters that they will comply.... without complaint

My issue is not with the new applicants
It's with the WHINERS

You, sir, are one of those

Excuses?

Dude, I said I was lazy.

How much more blunt do you want me to be?

I am legally in the DR today.

I'm telling complainers to harden the f@k up and just git 'er done...by law.

What's with you? Much crankier than usual. Maybe I'll dust off MY "dislike" button. Jeez...

You don't understand WHY the DR requires the residency process to begin at home: illegal Haitians.

The DR wants them to go home first, THEN apply....where, no doubt, only the most economically solid or those with positive skilz will be allowed to re-enter.

Frankly, I wouldn't object if the US passed such a law to address the illegal alien issue and the massive economic drain they cause...

donP I suppose that you didn't see the following post by CB?

As you can see CB stated he entered the country yesterday therefore he can't be illegal.
