on partly cloudy skies we run 79F/26C
sun came out early
and we have No Rain this morning.
wind is unsteady and gusty actually from the western(land) side.
there are stil dark clouds out there far over the ocean,
the 93L fall apart with just a little piece of clouds left over the ocean of the north coast.
the Wet-Zone on the east can be closed.
we may get a short shower or two during today,
moving back to normal.

thrusday 25th 9:00AM
79F/26C
sun is out mostly since early
much less cloiuds than yesterday morning
we had many more showers yesterday and early last night,
dry since then.
wind is still from the usual west WWSW, a 12 knots with strong gusts.
at least it is sunny, ha ha, missed that baby.
actually there are no massive cloud formations around,
so it looks like it will stay like that.
the rest of that weather should have passed the area in the afternoon, so our wind will go back on it's usual eastern direction.
when turning it is usually a light breeze 5-6knots when from the south, once back blowing from the east we should get our regular september wind of 12 knots.

gooood morning punta cana and congrats to an other sunshine start in a sunny weekend.
i like the weather posts exactly like that, boooooring, because we have day by day the same sunshine, cloudfree skies, hot temps and low winds.
nothing new to report and right now no change in sight.
even that stats expect 2-3 named systems for the first half of october 2008, still they are not here or somewhere else.
we are right now looking on a perfect sunny PC weekend.
enjoy life everybody

you?re welcome Victor.
TB,
what about the Canaries??
for myself, i don?t care about the weather over the Canary Islands Buddy.
the disturbance in the western caribbean is not coming our way.
the only stuff with influence for us is the cloudy formation located south and southeast of hispaniola, it is no storm or such, but some rain.
the highway is free of disturbances and does not show any kind of development actually.
the area of the west african coast around the Cape Verde Islands shows conditions for development, but this late in the season not very likely to get one up, actually there?s nothing.

WunderMap Interactive Radar & Weather Stations : Weather Underground

today we had mostly perfect sunny skies, high temps, low winds,
i caught one brief short shower early afternoon when driving over from the airport to the bavaro area, did not last long, street been dry again right away.
happy weekend
Mike

Mike:

You're right. My Bad. Mea culpa.

I confused the Cape Verdes with the Canaries which are further North East.
Gotta get out my geography book and get some smart, I guess.
Anyhoo, that system COULD develop since it looks to be very widespread to me. Keep anaeye on it.

i understood that you meant the Cape Verdes,
you mixed them with the canaries in a prior post on one of the weather threads a while ago, lol.
is is a system, yes, but we have to watch it for a while before anything can be said, it is not the time for cape verde guys, in october i would much more await developments much closer to us, right east of the lesser antilles and much more likely within the caribbean sea.
the next days will show what?s up everywhere, actually we are fine and sunny.

goooood moooorning Punta Cana Wonderworld.
today we are on our 15th consecutive sunshine day,
and still no change in vicinity.
we run again high temps from early on,
no clouds,
very low wind,
super calm waters,
even offshore Sea is flat like a lagoon again.
overlooking the ocean here reminds me of typical cal weather conditions for may or june, very rare during october, but sure i will not complain about perfect caribbean sunshine anytime.
even with an invest 97 on the maps and a big rainload formation over the windward islands there is actually no threat for punta cana anywhere out there.
we will keep an eye on the rain over the windwards during tomorrow and by sunday morning it's track should be seen more clear. surroundings for development are very unfavorable, good for everybody, how much rain will be left and what direction it will wander can not be told before it crossed the windward islands.
have a great sunfilled day on our beautiful beaches.

Hello again Mike,

How do you see the weather for the next few days around the Island? This system 97L looks interesting but I'm not experienced enough to work out were and how its going to develop?

97 does not look like it will effect PC.
the nonamed rain over the lesser antilles has better chances to do so.
the worst scenario would be some daytime showers during the next couple days.
nothing too bad after 16 consecutive sunshine days,
some water for the garden, no winds.
i don't make guesses for more than this weekend,
conditions are on the change so we have to see what the new week will present at it's start. actually there is no threat out there for the east coast

so we had an other mostly sunny day in paradise yesterday,
a few showers passing isolated throu several areas, short and needed,
we are mostly dry.
today we start early with the sun out,
bno clouds around,
a low breeze from the east
and nice calm waters.
the part of the huge cloud formation which hung yesterday morning over puerto rico and brought punta cana under clouds amnd some showers been pulled southwards again, it will get part of Invest 98L finally,
so we most likely will get that rain back in a few days.
the outlook for PC weather right now looks just perfect for the next 2 days.
happy travel

welcome to an other week on paradise island.
1st it comes different and 2nd than you think.
that rainload mass is hanging south and southeast of PC but decided to start the formation of a center right south of the Mona Channel, and that's close.
we had several showers late night and they continue with strong 15-20 minutes showers on and off this morning. w will not get too many sunny hours/minutes today. the system still did not really arrive and start, the actual rain is coming from some small pieces of clouds spread out from that 98L.
the track is at this moment not really predictable, it is moving very slow.
we have to wait til the center is clearly built to know more about it's future track.
this afternoon we will finally also get hurricane hunter data of 98L, which a expect to be upgraded to a Tropical Depression by that flight.
today we will go on with60-65% clouds and several strong showers, 35-40% of sun. i count the rainloads to move NE and run over puerto rico as a tropical depression, in that case the rain for PC would be over by tomorrow afternoon.
if it stands still or runs NNW the rain coulod hold til thursday and bring some uncomfo inchs of water over PC and the southeast of hispaniola.
let's move NE, one rainy monday and all will just be fine.
we will know much more this afternoon

even with some clouds over the Mona Channel,
we are mostly sunny with medium winds in PC today.
duting today and tomorrow it will stay like that.
if it rains the showers will be isolated in some areas and short,
wind may gust up strong for a few minutes while the rain falls down.
TD15 is actually drifting very slow to the SE,
that is bringing a little more distance between the tropical depression and punta cana, which will soon start it final Northeastern track towards east puerto rico/virgin islands. we may get some showers during the next couple days and wind will provide some stronger gusts, but that is the worst possible scenario in case of punta cana. in other words, our weather will stay over all mostly sunny and there is no danger of any kind on it's way.
happy travel
Mike
