Another side note:
The new system of renewing (as opposed to re-applying) is very good, but you must have an unblemished passport to send in. Mine had some numbers written in the back (by me) and was refused. I then had to re-apply, took another week plus, and this nearly cost me the trip. If in doubt and if your time is short, re-apply rather than renew.
