I read last week the Rt 5 bridge in Imbert would be repaired and open by this last Sat. or Sun.

Any information would be welcomed.

(Not holding my breath that the work is completed.) Ty

If you are talking about the big bridge in Imbert ( only bridge ? ), it was always open ( or I am always lucky ;) ), only its one-way.*
ie traffic POP-Navarette goes. Then Navarette-POP gets their turn. Surprisingly I didnt wait long the 3 diffrent times i crossed back and forth, quite well organised.
They dont seem to be working*on the bridge but rather*under and also clearing up/ re-routing the riverbed.

MOPC plans to put gabions to support the sides of the bridge. this will take time. for now, as malko stated, the bridge is functional with alternating traffic movement.

another tough day of rains for puerto plata area yesterday.
airport flooded again: http://www.elcaribe.com.do/2017/03/23/lluvias-vuelven-causar-estragos-puerto-plata
a family missing after ill fated attempt to cross the flooded cañada in their hyundai: http://www.diariolibre.com/noticias...uzar-rio-desbordado-en-puerto-plata-YF6645144

I was at the airport yesterday afternoon.  At 1:30pm it started to rain.  By 3:30 the airport was flooded.  The ramp area was under two feet of water in some places.

They must have some serious drainage issues if they can't get rid of two hour's worth of moderate rain.

Most folks here have no idea of the laws of physics. The only way to explain most of the accidents that happen on the roads.

apparently the driver (missing woman) thought the car was tall enough to cross the stream. judging by the pictures you'd need a tank for that. bodies still not found, btw. yesterday a military chopper was doing rounds along the coast in attempts to locate them. airforce, police, civil defense and even search dogs are still looking for them today.

Is the whole town of Sosua flooded out or just certain sections this morning? Looking at a giant brown pond where the pool used to be at Garden Condos.....

i don't read dr1 news and the headline is incorrect. the article linked clearly says: Fueron identificados anoche los dos ocupantes de la yipeta que fue arrastrada por la crecida del río Los Domínguez y que aún permanecen desaparecidos.
identified and still missing.

UNCONFIRMED - I have been told the missing woman lived in Sosua near or in Coco Hotel.
Again, I don't know how reliable the source is, just what I was told.
