New York dentists

On a funny side, my family dentist whom I`ve known for a good quarter century, recently having me in the chair and learning that I spend a major chunk in DR, started talking about his good friends (also respectable family men of 55-60 or close) who travel to Sosua because of the "$20/night beautiful ladies" and that he is dreamming too...
I had to discourage him saying that most women whom he`d meet in Sosua streets (especially in the $20 range) are smash junkies and he wouldn`t touch them with a seven foot pole...

He looked very grime and upset with his tooth drilling machine in his hand, but I retained a strong deep feeling that very soon I`d meet him on Pedro Clissante anyway... Just a wild guess... Some invasive deep feeling...

I dont think so.
without the whores, haitians beggin, and the 20-30 lowlifes expat that control the whores, drugs and haitians, Sosua would be a better town.
New people will come to town from POP, Santiago. decent ladies. decent expats. and business would do much better with wealthy dominicans and expats. than those trash who deal with minors and pros 24 hours a day.

I respect your opinion johnny boy, but you surely can not compare what two consenting adults do, with perverts who go with minors..

I'm sure he meant chasing the girls. The numbers are a little high but who knows, maybe on weekends. :)

Name me one town in the DR that doesn't have a hooker bar (err. I mean Car Wash Bar). If you can't pick someone up there, I'll lick the soap off your hubcaps.

I am unsure why you are directingthat at me as I was agreeing with you. I was pointing out to Sr OTT that we were discussing Sosua specifically. To say the Country relies on the hookers is stupid. Sosua on the other hand is a bit of s specialised destination these days.

This is an easy one...

how can you say they are respectable family men lol

. He pays the bills, providing a lifestyle which would be otherwise unavailable to his wife and children.

. He gives time and loving attention to those same wife and kids.

. As an upper middle class worker, he pays a disproportionately high share of taxes.

, He's probably a member of a charitable fund or organization locally, donating time or money or both to those less fortunate.

. He probably is a contributing member of a Church, synagogue or mosque.

. He treats his wife like a Queen or at least better than she's been treated by any other Man in her adult life. She shares fully in the prestige of his profession and position in the community. Thanks to him, she only works if she chooses to and she has time and financial freedom to spend her weekdays shopping, getting beautiful, having martinis with "the girls" and blowing the mailman.

Assuming that the above assumptions are anywhere near accurate (they usually are) than I'd say that this dentist is a pretty "good family man" and deserves a little playtime to blow off some steam.

All work and mo play, after all.....

All this guy is aspiring to is the same fruits of labor that many, many Dominican guys enjoy without needing to travel. For every one tourist "girlie joint" there are dozens if not scores which exist for the benefit of Dominican Men. What other country has cabanas every quarter mile or car washes with wet bars, pool tables and "waitresses". If extramarital sex was outlawed in the Dominican Republic they would have far greater problems than decreasing air traffic to POP. There would be revolution and murders!

I doubt anyone on this board has ever met a Dominican man that never cheated on his wife. It is the pastime here, and accepted as such.

LOL. I was not directing this at anyone in particular. Just want people to realize that prostitution is not only running in Sosua. Sorry for any misunderstanding. You got to admit my carwash joke was funny. :)

A respectable family man is not a man who does all of the above, then take regular side trips to Sosua to have a good time with cheap putas supposedly because he deserves it :surprised

So, putas are now awards for doing what you are supposed to do :surprised

I usually agree with most of your posts Dread but when it comes to these issues....

Sosua is not especially my cup of tea, but yes, Eddy is a 100 % right. Prostitution in Sosua is just more open and as nasty as it sometimes is there is less hypocrisy involved then prostitution in other parts of any destination or the often fancied "luxury tourism". If I go to the bars of Sosua or (much worse) Boca Chica I know what to expect.

All these sad stories involved in the sex industry are part of it. If I don't like this scene or simply don't want to see it I can have a beer somewhere else.

I guess Sosua has a choice to either cater to the sex crowd or the family crowd, you can't really do both.
Shut down prostitution and there will be short term pain as the economy re-aligns itself with new clientele but once the normal regular tourist trade takes over it will make the current sin city economy look pale and the entire area would be better off in the long run (economically and safety wise).

Agree 100%.
I think business in Sosua has the last word (I am not talking about Clasicos or those putas bars) to choice if they want what they have now. a ghost town, with not tourists, full of haitians pros and children beggin in every street., drugs every where, 20-30 lowlife expats with 600dlls pension sitting at bars expending 100 pesos for 2 beers with 2 pros in their legs. (sometimes minors), around 100 cheap new yorker a year that come with 300dlls to spend the weekend of their life.
or
A town where anybody can visit with their family without been assault for agressive hookers, or ladrones.
mediun class tourists that go out the resort for dinner or drinks.
dominican from Santiago and Santo domingo that wont have any problem expending 6 to 10,000 pesos in a dinner.
Expats residents from any of those developments, Sosua Ocean village, hispaniola, Infiniti Blu, Sea horse, Haciendas El Choco, and many more (just with this community is enough to fill most bars and rest.) most of them never go to Sosua at night because the owner of Sosua (20-30 expats) control the nights in sosua.

Perfect solution!!

I have the perfect solution! Just to print 8 million bills of 1 million pesos each and give one to each Dominican citizen. So in a blink everyone becomes a rich millionire and does not have to sex Americans for money any more.
Easy!
Piece of cake!
