Hi everyone, I just need to clear some confusion on my part and hope you guys can help me out.

What the total amount of taxes one has to pay on a ticket leaving DR?
Do you have to pay taxes also on a ticket coming into the country?
What if I buy my tickets online?

Thanks for any help.

It's approx. $40 to leave the USA, and aprox. $65 to return to the USA. In total, about $107 max.

This applies whether you buy tickets in person, online, through a travel agent, whatever. You gotta pay the taxes.

If you are paying for the ticket in the DR...

there will be 12% added on to the ticket price - above and beyond the normal taxes. That is the Dominican sales tax - and it applies whether you are departing from the US or the DR.

Also, AA converts the ticket price from dollars to pesos. The rate is usually not particularly favorable.

You cannot put the price of the tickets on a credit card in dollars, either.
