Second world you cans still find KFC and McDonald's in any town over 10,000. Third world, no so much..

Once you get an IKEA, you're first world, at least in the city it's in.

Each time I hear '1st worlders' ask me what's so interesting in the 'third world' DR, and conversely, every time I hear 3rd worlders talk romantically about how they're on their way to becoming 1st worlders, I'm reminded of this scene:

We're all in the third world now folks. It's the brave new globalized world.

A somewhatmisleading stat . Cuba is listed as 51 and the DR as 98 ranked. Cuba is higher for education but anyone knowledgeable about both countries would conclude that the average Dominican is better off than the average Cuban.

How many Mcdonalds are there in the DR? Santo Domingo has 3, a city of how many millions? To me it's 3rd world mostly with some scattered 1st world somewhere to be found

If all Dominicans think the way I do Macdonalds will be in bankruptcy, I been here in US four years and have eat that ?? maybe ten times no more...

I take my time to cook everyday!

IMO

2nd world would be the likes of Mexico, Argentina etc.

Therefore DR 3rd world for sure.

Haiti and others like it are what i have heard referred as 4th world

So you are degrading DR compared to Mexico, I thought DR was in a better situation.

Since when did the number of McDonalds stores become a measure of economic development?? Unbelievable!!!

If I had by chance married a Mexican instead of a Dominican I would have never thought of moving to Mexico that's for sure. A Lots of great people, culture, music(some), places to see and food but too dangerous.
