I thought of putting this in the living section but I really think that it belongs here

from today's DR1 News which many posters .. mea culpa.. do not read every day

Sad numbers

A total of 43 women have been killed in three months. In the month of March alone, 19 women were killed in the Dominican Republic. The average age of the victims was 26. One of the most recent victims, who was just 21 was shot dead by a 47-year old man in Villa Tapia, along with her aunt who was also murdered. An article in Hoy newspaper says that the most violent provinces are Santo Domingo, Santiago and Puerto Plata. Most of the women were killed by their former husbands or partners, and five were killed by their husbands. Most were stabbed to death. ///

end

I think that ANY woman who gets involved with a Dominican man has to understand this reality.. There is something VERY machisto about the men here. Even my Colombian women friends have found that to be true about the men here.

No matter WHAT they tell you.. they are extremely entitled.

To have their way.. To do whatever.

They are spoiled and coddled by their mothers, like Italians... the puer eternas...

and think it their right to have both their way with however many women as they want and to be waited on hand in foot.

now.. this may be your cup of tea..

and you may find one that you can train to suit you....
\
or one whose mother raised him up differently than the predominant culture or

who found his own way out

forewarned is forearmed

Interesting and I am not doubting this data.

But with what I read on DR1, the women being so demanding with their foreign boyfriends, where are they learning this behavior? Seems like both the women and the men cannot be spoiled....someone has to do the spoiling!

mostly it's ex husbands doing the killing. in cases of gringa-dominicano relationship gringas normally leave the country after the relationship falls apart.

Glad to know it's an equal opportunity society.....
Guess I should stop having so many girlfriends at one time........
Could be detrimental to my health.......

Yes, but do not fool yourself.
It is not love or jealousy that would kill you.
It's greed. :pirate:

They simply hate to share YOUR money with another girl... :bunny:

A guy could get paranoid sometimes reading this site. I'll have to careful or I'm going to develop panic attacks of some of the vulnerable positions I have been in during the first steps, fuk I've been lucky. :paranoid:

It is nice to have a functioning police force around me, but I doubt the violence on women is any lower than in DR, just they don't cross that line of death as often.

Yes, I did notice that some Dominican men are crazily jealous and macho. If you don't follow their rules - they will "turn you off" in no time, get rid of you basically. They just don't like women trying to have an equal relationship with them and talk normally. A woman has to be nice, sweet, sexy and obedient, close her eyes on their cheating, stay home, and keep her mouth shut. They are even willing to pay for it.

Well, it is similar to pouring acid over woman?s face and body, like in Pakistan, for example. This is if she does not agree with whatever her husband tells her to do. So, DR is not an exception.

A bit overkill I think, some men are crazily jealous where ever you are, I don't think the jealousy thing is any more in DR than anywhere else, but what does that matter. I don't think men are controlling in general, not in a stay home way, I've not witnessed that, in a keep your nickers on way yes, most men are with there girlfriends/wives, but most don't use death as a discipline, that is the overkill reaction down to Brugal. Men tend to like showing off their sexy women, tits overflowing, ass stretching out some 2 size too small dress, and even others looking, but it is the touching and then the drinking that makes it go to sh1t.
Acid is popular in DR, I see lots of victims of acid attacks, men and women, I still don't see men telling women what to do so much, just trying to get the to keep their nickers on. But just my experience.

My being'lucky' comment was referring to how some of the first girlfriends I've I've had reacted when I dropped them.

If you have not seen crazy jealous men or women in the DR then you have never opened your eyes! The violence comes from control and jealousy NOT brugal!

Dominican women are really big FLIRTS and now the Facebook was introduced it makes it a lot easier for a let say, a 20 yr old woman who has a 42 yr old husband to talk and befriend a guy closer to her age. Now when the boyfriend or husband find out they are being replace, the woman is DELETED by DEATH. The Dominican Republic is very hard on women in a many aspects of life.

Check the annual stats for murders of women by their partners/ex partners per head of the population for the DR compared to most other countries. For additional context, compare the figures for all murders between the DR and each country and the difference will be smaller. The rate of what is termed as 'feminicide' is alarmingly higher in the DR.

Where did I say there were not crazy jealous men or women in the Dominican Republic? I said I don't think it is any more than anywhere else, or not significantly. I said the reaction was overkill, most jealous men do not kill their partners no matter how jealous they are, that is the difference. The problem is not the jealousy, the problem is the reaction to it. I think the figures are higher than need be due to alcohol, and before you try to read this post out if context, no I'm not saying all men who kill partners are drunk, I'm saying if you took alcohol out of the equation the figures would be significantly less.

As far as the control you describe, well I don't see more of it in the DR than anywhere else in the world (jealousy and control, not murder).

Can you understand that? Jealousy is not a reaction, it is an emotion.

Again Chiri, I am not arguing the murder rate, it is sad.
