So, tell me, sayanora: 14-16 hours working, then 5-7 hours of sleep, and 2-4 hours to travel and do all the things I'm sure you've claimed in other posts (I won't fact-check, just sayin'...), so what gives?

If you aren't the real Miguelitiningo, then I might just re-consider my previous warning and start to treat Miguelitiningoesque traits as an illness that needs a cure. Ya lo sabes!

2-4 hours of travel .. what? 14-16 hours working, My wife cooks all meals, 1 hour of swimming or walking, and the rest of my time is spent sleeping. Not sure how this is relevant but ok..

Care to expound on that? *grabs popcorn*

Just saying the conversations seem about the same, being skeptical of anything, lack of cultural integration in a country they live in, not understanding how things work here, although some of them are pretty cool people.

If someone is willing to pay Jose O'shay prices, I don't think they too particularly care about understanding how things work here [DR]. LOL!

No, you are not Miguelitiningo, but you might be that Coleridge wannabe fan from zanyduderanch.

soooo many pages of postings of off topic postings, just evaluating the OP's upcome/validity, lol.
will try to stay On Topic/bring it back On Topic.
why I am here:
* nice People, Yes, they are, but I met nice people on my travels everywhere on the Globe
* da Weather, heck, that's a Point, the DR Heat is for me the Central European much more bearable than the overly hot European Hot Summer Days
* fruits, veggies etc, heck, they are fantastic here and you can get them without any chemical treatment done to the buggers, but Hey, I Love my MEATS so don't care about teh veggies. yes, Meats are in the DR available by my own opinion and taste in much better quality and for way cheaper prices than I found them in the US where I spent quiet some Time, those american cows are not bad by any means, but I prefer the DR Cut.
* the Ocean, well, it always splits myself into pieces when trying to get an own opinion pos or neg about it, I always end up in a "compromise". I love the Ocean, I Live the Ocean, I live 20 Meters from the darn Beach and know how quick ALL Furnitures and electrical Equipments in the House etc etc including the Car on the Parking Place get Worn down to dead, Yes, I still Love the Ocean and have no Intention abandon it for some gated community. but my Preference is our lil Ranch, maybe the better part of my own Roots, born country, raised country, back to country, a internet rich webforum neighbourhood would sure not be what I would seek for to have as a neighbour, specially when coming from abroad and claiming to know it all just because of a Local Bloodline
* after a total crashdown of my formerly hardearned money here on the Island a point I really Like about DR is that I've been able to start with Zero from Scratch and build up a well running company, I guess that I would not have made that back home in Europe under similar circumstances
* you can sit by Noon at a Steetbar, after the coffees you grab a ice cold Presidente and work on your computer right there without anybody around wondering what da "drink" by noon is typing on da Laptop, People here take other People as they Are, not as they wish other People to Be.
* Living costs here are comparable to living costs in Europe, the US been even more expensive on many points(talking 2 Decades ago, no more personal comparison possible since then), but for the same money spent I get much better quality Here in the DR than in Europe or the US.
* DR People on the Countryside are the Best I met on the Countryside of any other Country, but keep in mind that a DR Citizen from the big Cities/specially from la Capital, would not consider them as a typical/average Dominican Citizen, many of the Cityguys/gals do not even really know what kinda Humans live outside the vicinity of their City Accomodations, other than visiting a few times per year a Finca in the Mountains for a Day of Family Fun, but what would they see/learn on that?

requesting that Negatives on a own made Topic should be deleted by the Mods(such will not happen on DR1) shows NOT that you would own a too much liked Internet Forum by My personal taste, I much more prefer to be a Member of a Forum like DR1 instead.

Rocky's, as far as I know sold loooong ago, but still running, would sure not be a Place to meet anything typical DR related. not a typical Dominican Local nor a typical Expat, it been/is just a great Place for People seeking for different and great Food and a different Clientel than the typical Dominican Places would have to offer. a typical Dominican place in a touristy area like Sosua or Juan Dolio or Punta Cana would anyways be something very hard/impossible to find, so there's nothing to compare or to rate pos nor neg.

all in all,
I read the OP from the beginning as Crap, but I took my time and read the whole Topic from posting #1 til the last as I have to kill a couple of hours on the road at the moment, yes, I am the real one expat who ordered after a couple coffees a cold Presidente at a Street Restaurant today, actually I am even on my 2nd Beer and may grab a 3rd before I have to finally move, after reading it All I am still under the Impression that the OP is Crap, but that's of course just my own personal Impression and I do not request from the Mods to Delete Posters who do not agree positively with my own Opinion.

at least you received all the attention you seeked for due just one Topic, not bad of an efford,
how many asked you by PM about the address of your Web-Forum?

good luck with that

cheers

Mike

may be just In Memory of a Japanese Grand Grand Mother,
or just a fable for such far away names, doesn't ned to mean anything real, as so much more on 'it'.

Mike

I'm a gamer who misspelled my name years ago and it sorta stuck. Thanks for your evaluation of the post and thanks for the positives of the DR. I know I went overboard with requesting deletion of negatives but I wanted to see what people liked about the country here, I already know the complaints from hearing about them so much.
