Being Puerto Rican is a way of life Gorgon, not just where a person was born or where their parents and grandparents where born. I am not just saying this because I am part Puerto Rican, but IMO Puerto Ricans are some of the most HONEST, FAIR, TRUSTWORTY people on the planet.

I have a cousin that is dating a white guy who is very GOOD to her, and he always call me frustrated because he can't handle my cousin. Everytime when I go over to talk with him I tell him" she is my cousin and I love her, but if she is going to disrespecting you and make you feel bad all the time, then LEAVE HER CRAZY ASS" I know for a fact my cousin enjoys pushing him around because he does not like to fight back. If I was him I would have threw her ass out a long time ago, but thats me.

Puerto Ricans do not side with Puerto Ricans JUST BECAUSE they are Puerto Ricans how LAME is that? Dominicans on the other hand follow a different code.

AS for the 20 doctors I think it is a good time to head to Ponce, Puerto Rico from now on.:smoke:

JMB, you are preaching to the choir. ever since i got divorced, i have only dated boricua lovelies, because i know that i can trust them with my life. i dated this crazy girl from Mosholu Parkway that pulled a gun on two PR guys one night. they hit my car, and were trying to take off before giving me their insurance information. by the time she was done threatening, they had given me their grandmother's maiden name. we broke up soon after that. i did not want to stick around long enough to do something that made her mad. i just hark bank to the night with my machete attacker. had he been PR, and i was with my PR boys, they would have used him to sweep the floor. countrymen, or no.

Another great thread with nothing to offer. WHO was there and saw/spoke to those directly involved?

I have been in Santo Domingo for the last 3 or 4 days having eye surgery in an area with lots of upper end clinics. I did think about the massive amount of police and military around with fully automatic weapons but had no idea why and had no idea about this thread or Doctors being targeted. Perhaps even reading this thread I STILL don't have any answer since I have no way of knowing if anything is connected.

I don't know who owns the various clinics but I know that the one that I was being treated at is Dominican owned. He and his Dominican associates treat an average of 500 Dominicans a week that can not afford eye care and surgery. (I felt good leaving him about 10 eye glasses that I do not need.)

But rather then guessing and making up stuff.....

I'll ask on Tuesday when I return for my other eye surgery.

MA, I can read and did so in regard to your link. It provides a nice description of the canine/eye teeth of certain mammals. In no way shape or manner does it mention the mysterious "constant growing tooth? Did you bother to read the article you tried to substantiate your claim with?

I have no definite knowledge of rather teeth continue to grow or not (I wish I knew for sure, wouldn't have bothered with a three tooth bridge for a tooth broken at gum line, could have just waited for it to re grow like a Shark I guess :-( ), don't really care but WTF with the odd links? From Bio at school I seem to recall they will "erupt" or move up or down from bone if they have no resistance but actually "grow?"

this is not my specitalty.. i am not a dentist.. and it has nothing to do with the thread. I saw a guy with a fang in Haiti.. interveiwed him in fact/ His canine tooth went down to below his lower lip bottom. I asked my dentist, she said that the teeth keep growing.. the upper teeth.. that is all I know. I do not know if the incisors grow as well. But the canines do. I know that because I saw that. Do not know why this caused such a stir.

i do not think that there is any free dentistry here

strong dental union, remember?

In Haiti I have seen front teeth growing over the bottom lip because your front teeth keep on growing

even the avocado lady that I helped has a new front bridge now after her son knocked out her teeth.. he is schizo and the medications are hard to control

so from my seven years of travel, i would say that the dentistry here does not help

maybe the dental school does and maybe they were doing that

or maybe they were on vacation

or maybe the politico wanted to show off his power by bringing down twenty doctors

gringa s included... very impressive

Annie, there most certainly is free (or low cost) dental care provided by Salud P?blica! I have brought groups of dentists in once or twice a year since 2005, with no problem like this and with the cooperation and permission of public health.

Salud P?blica has been very grateful to have my groups come in and provide dental care to the poor in barrios. The university generally donates unused medicines and supplies to public health after the mission is completed, so they are happy not only to obtain assistance in treating the poor, but also to have access to supplies and medications.

Why would you think that such work is unneeded? Obviously, public health doesn't want the group treating the better-off. That isn't a problem however, since we are very careful to have those who have no other resources be the ones treated.

we do not need medical missions here. The DR has an excellent public health system.

i know that it is good experience for the mormons and episcolpalitnas and lutherans all the others.. but HAITI needs medicall missionaries. Here.. they may need help i\INSIDE THE public health system

all the NGOs that are running medical stuff are just proseletizings SPelling????

I saw evangelicals who went around the DR in helicopters.. they must be thought of as GODS

it is known that even World Vision prays over the Christian rice and the baptists in haiit make you listen to the gospel between the doctors visit and treatment

the Mormons take you and help you set up a business. That is how they convert. That and free lunches. That is what one of them told me.

I have liked every mormon that I have met and respect them. but we do not need these church based medical missionaries.

There are great medical non religious missions that come to the country just to help! I got to volunteer on a couple of different missions with doctors from different religious backgrounds (I've met mormons or muslims working with catholics) and they just came to do their job, no religion discussed.

I know that the Masons do very specialized surgeries that are not available here. Certainly that is welcome. They work with the Red Cross inside a local hospital. That certainly is needed and welcome. Just not to set up an alternative system which is free when the public hospitals need help. That is all.. not against doctors coming to help .. just not subvert the system. Am I making sense on this issue... ?

thanks for the idea, bob saunders. i will get right to it, as soon as i conclude my investigation into Canadian pedophiles in the DR, and their enablers.

Yes unfortunately there are some, almost as many as the American ones. Fortunately Canadian law allows for procecution of Canadians for sex crimes commited outside of Canada. No punishment is too harsh for them.

so does American law, come to think of it. as a Bronx boy, i get bored by multiple murders among us minorities. daily occurrence. we just do not know how to behave ourselves. that is why i did not bother to open a thread about the aberrant behavioral patterns found among negroes and Ricans. old hat. yawn. i find people coming to tropical islands, and victimizing helpless children to be far more intriguing.

Bob maybe if you find these 20 doctors and tell them how you teach Dominican kids not to throw paper on the street, not to talk while in school, not to chew gum etc. it will ease their pain of being robbed.

Did I hurt your feelings? In PR, they may have been shot as well as robbed. My cousin, who is a dentist, was robbed in Guatamala on one of her dental assistance visits. She happens to belong to the Seven Day Adventist church. She has done have a dozen more trips since. She was more upset with loosing her photos than she was with having her camera taken.

Well, I don't want to take sides, but I got curious and wanted to get the facts.
According to the United Nations Office for Crime and Drugs, as of 2011 PR had an intentional homicide rate of 26.2 and DR 25.00 (per 100,000/yr), for the 17th and 19th place in the world respectively. But interesting enough, in DR the homicide rate has doubled since 1995, but in PR it ony has increased by 3 points.
Wanna know who has the highest homicide rate in the world? Honduras (91.6) and El Salvador (69.2). The lowest go to Monaco (0.0) and Hong Kong (0.2). Ranking high up there we find Jamaica (52.2), Venezuela (45.1) and Mexico (22.7) More towards the middle of the table we find the US (4.8), Canada (1.6), Germany (0.8), Spain (0.8), Poland (1.1), Belgium (1.7).

actually, Castle, those are raw homicide statistics, which do not account for the nature of the actual homicide. therefore, it does not tell us what is the chance that a visitor would be more likely to be killed in the DR, or in PR. in a country such as Jamaica, for example, the murder rate is astronomical. however, most takes place in barrio areas, occasioned by politics. very few tourists or foreigners are killed there. the murder rate in the DR is far lower, but every other week a press release comes out about this gringo or that being killed at the hands of Dominicans. all i want from Saunders is some data that shows that more foreigners are killed in PR than in the DR. i do not expect a response from him, because i am sure he is not comfortable with this line of inquiry, and, when cornered to provide material proof, he usually slithers away to safety.

What are you guys arguing about ? I am lost....

That Cuban educational system is better than Dominican ? Bob I agree that it is overrated and they lack of many things but, be honest on that one....

More homicide in PR ? Gorgon you know it s true LOL. Ok may involve less gringo but isn't because PR gets 10000 times less tourists and expats.
