Power "Outages caused by the antiquated city power plant are frequent." Nope, that is not exactly the reason for power outages.

I sat thru a talk by someone who represented the local power companies herein the DR and he said that there is always more power generated than is used. He had charts and graphs and seemed to know what he was talking about, but it made no sense to me.
Why the constant blackouts if there is more power generated than is used. He brushed my quesiton off whan I asked.

That answer is amazingly simple. The power outages are because of lack of payment for the energy provided in a given circuit. Each circuit has a percentage of payment associated with it. There are four levels of circuits with A getting 24/7 power and D getting at most 12 hours daily based simply upon how much of a percentage of the power in that circuit is actually billed and paid. .

The question is: How do people get away with stealing power? Answer: The government does not care. That is why the moron brushed off your question. And trust me, these people distributing power are incredible morons.

Regarding the travel item written for Fathom Tours, it's a feel good article written by a tourism spin doctor designed to bump up the passenger numbers on that particular cruise ship. Certainly doesn't paint the DR in a good light. It barely scratches the surface of what's actually happening in the DR. I suppose if your cruising in the lap of luxury, a small bit of volunteerism work with the token poor does placate your conscience.

I don't know how some people be so naive to think that a company investing millions of dollars into this plan, will somehow think that they will be awash with cash from a few months after having had introduced a new way of cruising into their market.

These are long term investments that are bound to take roots and expand.

What they seek is to get people to spend more and more time inland, so they can save money aboard. Each hour spent on land is 90% cheaper in related costs than spent on board.

I told you before that they aim to change the cruising industry for good. They want to replace the vacations taken on air trips + hotels + car rentals, +++ and turn them into a whole AI via the cruise itself.

have they given up on finishing the highway now that carnival is already here?

just wondering, because I passed by yesterday, there was 500meter stretch of highway done and the rest still nothing. couldn't see the process as it was in the middle of the night but that finished part was already done like half a year ago, no progress since?

ok, and I thought I was making a joke saying that they stopped working now that carnival is here and don't need to pretend anymore.

just curious about the reason? did the money ran out, did they have problems with the people they evicted from the land, or do they really just don't care anymore?

I just was on that road yesterday. Some very dangerous sections right in that location and what looks like so many other Dominican projects, it was started and may never be finished. It is always about the money, and frequently about who actually gets that money, is it not?

I am just too stupid for this island.

You would think that after the DR landed a major investment on the North Coast, they would show the outside world that the DR is a reliable partner. Yet, they advertise the exact opposite.

Good luck trying to get an investment for Sosua or other places at the Nort Coast.

Yes Playa Bergantin has been the topic of competitive cruise lines over the past couple of years. Maybe they will half finish a road to it as well.

there was also talk about the possibility of adopting main port in POP for cruise ships. after moving the power plant, of course.

now, that would be an "impact" travel to see barrios surrounding the port first thing after arrival.

They would certainly move the barrios as well as the power plant.

The secret is!!!!... and this may be a shocker! Most Dominican bsuinesses do not really want to make money. Why else would they and their employees go so far out of their way to provide the ****tiest service one could ever find. The owners do nothing of it, hell they support it.
It takes work to make money, most dont want anything to do with work. Resting under a coconut tree or drinking in a colmado.
