Someone who can afford it......Or someone who is stupid. Pick your poison
Well for that price range, there are so many other options out there. T

Who the hell spends 70k for a Jeep?
Not sure if this was mentioned. There is a rumor that two other people asked to be let out of the car before the accident because of the way Oscar was driving. Anyone confirm that?
Uhhhh you are waaay off. There are several gross inaccuracies with your statement:
- Don't care about power? Say that to the driver of the Nissan GTR and his 370z buddies that flew by me like a rocket down the autopista duarte (I was doing 75)
- The base model Camaro is a 1LS and it comes with a V6 323hp engine. (There is no RS model, that is a body package not a model)
- The hp in that model makes it a sports car PERIOD. That is enough to speed and weight to turn it into a missile.
If he had a model 1SS or 2SS he would have a v8 with 426 hp...still PLENTY dangerous.
The ZL1 model has 580 hp and has a distinctive raised hood. I am inclined to say that he had a ZL1 based on the pictures posted on the web you can clearly see he had the same hood that only came on that model.
Either way its a damn shame. RIP
JMB only rents them he don't buy them......

The ZL1 top speed is 180 MPH. That is quite fast for just a "show" car.
Did you see the photos of the car??? What genius place 24 inch tires leaving him almost NO RUBBER on a car with this type of HP. He will receive far more respect by his tires, rims, sound system and paint his paint then he will receive by raising his hood showing of that monster call the engine.
You have to really love American power to buy and appreciate the Camaro ZL1. 99.99999% of people in DR won't be able to tell a base Camaro from the ZL1 and the people he was trying to stunt in front only care about the rims and sound system.
you make a lot of sense here. only the worst of chopos believe that 35 series tires on oversized rims is a good idea in a country with roads like we have here.
While speeding in a blinding thunderstorm.
Steering wheel on the right side?Is it me or were they also not wearing their seatbelts?
i sometimes get the feeling that we are piling on with our observations, but what the heck was this poor soul thinking, from the outset?
I agree.
Let's face it, we were all 22 once, and most of us did stupid things that could have ended very differently. When I was 22, I owned a red Firebird, and I was born with a lead foot.
This guy must have felt his life was magical, I can only imagine going from poverty to MLB salaries. I know I was invincible at 22, he must have felt it in spades. And the young girl with him must have felt soooooo lucky that he chose her.
On a separate note, I was surprised that none of the US news channels we've seen have even mentioned the accident/death
Steering wheel on the right side?
Does anybody know where that video comes from?
Is it supposedly from the moment prior to the crash?
Although it was reported that he was speeding in bad weather, there is yet no evidence
that he was drunk at the wheel. (right now it's just speculation) Now that he may have
been drinking, that's another thing. An autopsy is being conducted right now and I'm
quite sure a toxicology will be conducted and hopefully will be disclosed to the public.
Speed and weather seems to be the factors.
Officials in the Dominican Republic do NOT believe alcohol was a factor in the crash that killed St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras and his girlfriend ... TMZ Sports has learned.
We spoke with reps at the Metropolitan Police Department in the D.R. who tell us ... Taveras was driving "very, very fast" on a wet road when he lost control and slammed into a huge tree.
Both Taveras and his GF were killed in the crash.
Officials tell us an autopsy is currently being conducted on Oscar -- but we're told there was no immediate evidence at the crash scene to lead officials to believe he was drunk behind the wheel.
Officials tell us the weather may have played a role -- because it had been raining around the time of the accident and the roads were slippery.
We're told ... Taveras is not the first person to have lost control and slammed into that particular tree -- another person died in the same exact spot last year under similar weather conditions.
