this touches heart of the matter. imagine being invited to a party. lots of alcohol, few hussies in skimpy bikinis in the pool getting touchy feely. and then BAM, the police arrives and books everyone present because some of the tramps were underage.

no, the police arrive because some dick who was not invited ratted them out. among other things, of course, such as the likelihood that the ambience was unruly and disruptive. i am sure that nobody called the cops because of the ages of the girls.

who called the police and why is not that important. it's important that one may get dragged into this mess because they are at a party where some female "guests" are minors.

This incident may be a lot more serious than we think. Ya see, as an American when traveling with your American passport the laws of America follow you everywhere you go. Anyone remember the thread about the head of TSA security at JFK last year???
Bang an underage chic in New York, bang an underage chic in Sosua. As far as America is concerned, same punishment.

very true. it is easy to become a victim of the justice system even if you did not touch one of the minors. then you have to go home and explain to your boss why you did not make it into work on Monday. next thing you know is that your wife wants to know what is a Fortaleza, since she saw you going into it on youtube.

Often murder suspects get 3 months only...
This is another arbitrary and capricious act for which the Dominican justice system is famous for. :tired:

I now wonder what the accused 'gringos' get... :cross-eye

The Fiscal probabbly requested this to be labeled as "complex case", meaning there?s a multiple amount of suspects involved. This is used in organized crime cases, or theres just a series of suspects, sometimes pointing the finger at each other.

The prosecution gets an extention of the time they have to carry out the investigation, this also makes preventive custody to be longer . They also have more time before other steps in the process expire.

Ok, I found it! It?s on Book IV, Art. 369 of the Codigo Procesal Penal Dominicano, under "Procedimiento Para Asuntos Compleos". It states not only multiple perpetators, but also multiple victims and multiple crimes as grounds to declare a case "complejo".

T?TULO IV:
PROCEDIMIENTO PARA ASUNTOS COMPLEJOS
"Art. 369.- Procedencia. Cuando la tramitaci?n sea compleja
a causa de la pluralidad de hechos, del elevado n?mero de
imputados o v?ctimas o por tratarse de casos de delincuencia
organizada, a solicitud del ministerio p?blico titular, antes
de la presentaci?n de cualquier requerimiento conclusivo, el
juez puede autorizar, por resoluci?n motivada, la aplicaci?n
de las normas especiales previstas en este t?tulo. La decisi?n
rendida es apelable."

Does anyone remember Viking resort? It was the same type of whore house. He also got shut down. I see this as the same thing, I wouldn't be surprised if the Internet lead to his dimise.

This was a rented Villa, NOT a whorehouse, BIG difference.

Not really related to your question. What it means is that the pretrial detention term that some posters found weird, compared to a murder case, is not actually unusual.

Oh , I am sorry , rented villa with a Web site to advertise what?

It doesn't look from the website that the ownership shares any culpability as they don't even imply any allusion to hanky panky pesos. The place looks like thousands of other available for private rental.

It's the fact that there are Dominicans and foreigners involved, besides the "victims" that makes this look like someone may have used the place to set up an ad hoc "fun house" to make a quick buck by placing demand in such close proximity to supply.

Just underscores that messing with underage girls is 1 of 2 things that will really get you in trouble and you can't do in DR. The other is drugs.
