Based on your negative criticism of this project throughout this thread, it appears to be bothering you for some reason. And since you seem skeptical of the sincerity of my most recent post as well, I will try to answer your questions.

You just happened to be passing by at 8am on a Saturday morning with your camera?

NO . . . I didn't "just happen to be passing by". I live 200 meters from Sos?a Bay Hotel and the convention center, I have to pass it every time I leave my home, it is on the road I use to exit Sos?a. I start work in Puerto Plata at 8:30, thus I was leaving to arrive there on time.

NO . . . I didn't have my camera with me, I took those photos with the camera in my cell phone from inside my car, thus the first photo being dark through my windshield, and the second photo being lighter and through the opened driver's side window later.

Good catch on the billboard signs while your were driving.

The photos of the billboards were taken at different times and in each instance I was a passenger.

Why don't you post a link to their youtube promotional video as well?

I didn't know one existed.

Are there any pre-bookings for January for this all-inclusive resort?

I don't know, I will ask and post the reply in this thread.

With all these road signs, does this all-inclusive resort expect to attract a lot of people from the surrounding area and Puerto Plata to go to a 5-star resort here?

I would assume they expect to attract some people from the area, as far as "a lot", I couldn't tell you.

What is the cost of a room at this 5-star all-inclusive resort going to be per night?

I don't believe it has been published yet.

I'm impressed with the line!!!

That line was before they even opened the doors and started the interviews.

Here is a photo of job applicants taken inside the convention center this afternoon, several hours after my original photos. There were more than 600 people seated, waiting for their interviews when this photo was taken, with a long line still outside.

By the time they finish this evening, I'm sure the number of applicants will have easily exceeded one thousand (1,000).

Looks real nice and I hope they do well. Not trying to stir the pot but looks like a lot of new jobs. Way more than the jobs lost by trying to chase the mongers out of town.

Very few jobs were lost "trying to chase the mongers out of town", despite what you might read here on dr1.

There were more jobs created in the FIRST DAY of construction on this project than ALL of the supposed jobs lost due to the changing of operating hours and closing four bars.

Believe me, if there was any credibility to their claims of mass unemployment caused by the changes, there would still be protests and meetings and continual rhetoric and propaganda.

Amateur website, poor navigation and lack of information. Not a good representation of what they want their perception to be,especially being a 5 star. Minus 1. I do find the billboards nice and clean and easy to read. The point gets across. Plus 1.
Anxious to see more of their marketing come to life. I'm still skeptical.
It does need some love, for sure.

I'm surprised anyone uses Comic Sans anymore.

Blue Collar Town in New Jersey
So , 1 New All inclusive 5 star Hotel has changed the Dynamics of the Unemployment % & #'s for the entire town of Sosua.. ?

Wow

that certainly is very Impressive and Optimistic
We should see now Banks opening up soon, so people have a place to deposit all this Money.
(please forgive the Sarcasm)

And those THOUSAND people Are all LOOKING for Work..
ergo, they do NOT have jobs at the moment..
I wonder how many of these were among the " only 15" people who lost their Bar, and Restaurant jobs, as we were previously Told was the TOTAL NET effect of Pedro C slowing down & closed bars..

it cant be both ways..

Their website says "presales." Is this a timeshare? A purchase with rental management?

Yes, but most of use knew the people that lost their jobs and take it personal.
Nothing against you Ny-Dr Commuter but think Dominican like the mayor.
We all have seen the Dominican renting to ex-pat; then sees him making money, decides to triple the rent and end up with nothing.....this is the mayor's mentality but on larger scale....Dominican mentality.

That's a great Idea for a new APP... wear these Glasses , to filer out all the Whores... Enjoy your dining, sin putas
The 2nd Version of the app, will make the sidewalks look even and complete & all boarded up businesses will become Botanical Garden views.

Precisely what I had in mind. *No need to even get on an airplane.*

Except it doesn't look like any views in Sosua......

Like anything, some win; some lose. If you look around at all the empty shells of what looked to be resorts (out beyond the Dulce Secreto following signs to the Casino), you definitely get the sense that Sosua had grander days.

All, I can say, is that living around a resort is not my thing. If they build it and their sosua dreams come true, I will definitely not be a part of it. Of course, that is probably true irregardless.

The fictional/virtual "new Sosua" perhaps? *

I lived in Sosua some 30 odd years ago and I am still getting used to what seems to me to be the "new Sosua." To me, it's not a change for the better. Except there are more places to eat and there's a new beach. That's just my opinion.

I know there are a lot of visitors and ex-pat residents alike who lament the good old days of 10 years ago.

What can I say? The golden places give short leases.

Agree with you.

I suppose all Sosua has to do is wait for Punta Cana to loose its shine. *Sadly it's gonna take at least ten years. *Perhaps then the tourists will see beyond the beautiful beaches and the artificial feel of it. *But by then it will be a buzzing metropolis with its malls, town center and infrastructure.

It seems to me that the Government have supported and incentivized the beach areas. *My guess being that beautiful white sand beaches are the major marketing appeals of a Caribbean destination.

It will be the same as other resorts. Don't leave the resort, it is dangerous out there. Only take our approved guided tours. Sosua being a dilapidated town will help the narrative nicely.

Being able to put that narrative into actual use is the question that looms.*
