Good point. It's like knowing what good pizza is, and then ordering it in most places in DR. Worse than the frozen crap back home. One place actually used ketchup instead of tomato sauce.

I think we need to go to dv8's house for good pierogis. All of us.

Agreed and agreed. There actually is one good pizza place now on the north coast, but this is the thread for Polish people.

The DR has enough starchy and greasy food.
You could go to German or Swiss restaurants who offer dumplings, sauerkraut and cabbage rolls.

a pierogi is quite similar to the ubiquitous empanada. every country in this part of the world has an empanada of sorts. introducing pierogi to Dominicans would be easy, because they already have something similar.

thay are not that hard to mass produce. the most complicated piece of equipment one would need is a dough sheeter. they are more complicated to make than an empanada, but they would sell like hot cakes in a place like Santiago.

Mrs. T's mass produces pierogis available in the US. They are a 7 out of 10 at best. But certainly the production of really good ones could be automated with a better recipe.

Well after 17 yrs of happy marriage to a Polish Kohane ...best way to tell if a Polish person is around is kapusta farts ...bean soup is banned from my house

But the only one that I can remember is a guy from NY that will go straight to heaven when he die, he bought a house in Mao to shelter homeless orphan kids.

He support with his own money everything, hope he still doing this.
