You seem to know a huge amount of detail about this business, were you involved in it in some way?

No, not at all. But I have four friends who have been long term clients over many years, one of whom became a personal friend of the owner. None of them were interested in the PC monger scene. That's why they always used him plus, he was known to provide some very good looking girls and zero hassles. I

I've met some of the girls. I can guarantee you they are not sex slaves in any way. Far from it.

Well at least the Owners were not kept in Jail...The blue Ice Piano Bar Owner is posting on her FB page, so we can assume she is at least Out and about .. I highly doubt they will be able to just pay a fine and reopen though, but anything is possible i guess .. just my .02.. definitely seems that Big changes are a coming to Susua.

Big changes are a coming to Susua.

The changes have been coming for a while, the unknown is, to what level of bar/restaurant are they going to continue to squeeze? At this point it seems that anything that is pretty much a bar only is persona non grata, but will it stop there? For example, would something like Fraggle Rock come onto the Radar, because its not a "high enough percentage" of restaurant for the Gov's liking?

An interesting thought, which I think is safe to assume is, they believe that 100% of the future people to come to Sosua will be families. If they squash any potential nightlife, what would people other than families have to do? It wouldn't make sense a newlywed couple that were to come to Sosua on honeymoon would perhaps want to go for drinks and perhaps dance somewhere at night, right? And if 100% of the folks coming are families with kids, they "generally" aren't wandering the streets later at night.

If both groups are pretty much going to be resort bound, either for the fact they have kids to put to bed and mind over, or there is no nightlife for younger couples, then they have no need to leave the resort at night, ipso facto, what then does it matter what goes on in town?

I know the working girls still patrol during the day, but again, where are these families or young couples going to go exactly during the day, to the attractions that don't exist?

IMO, many are taking the term "families" too literally. I think what they mean is "not sex tourists."

As in any "urban renewal" project---and make no mistake: the MoT indeed considers Sosua such a project, because I heard those exact words from a high-ranking MoT official---remove the bad before the new comes in, both physical properties, and the girls and their clients. And the powers that be know it's not a quick fix.

What entrepreneur would invest in Sosua as it exists today? Why are property owners having such a difficult time dumping properties? But who might make capital investments if the sex tourists are pushed out, the girls go elsewhere, and the image changed? How might the real estate market rebound if the area had a facelift and new charm? It may fail, but one thing we can easily predict: Sosua will never rebound with the current reputation and vibe. I do understand some like Sosua the way it is, but those with gubmint and economic power do not.

Fact is the #1 reason for the tourist decline is lack of travel agents sending clients to Sosua. As I have stated before, I know this because I deal with travel agencies all the time and they tell me this in clear, unvarnished words. The international travel industry community considers Sosua and Boca Chica as top sex tourist venues on the planet and flat do not refer their non-monger clients there, no matter how low the price.

You always pay

I in no way would ever pay for sex, it’s not my thing, I don’t really like most mongers but I talk to and watch the sex workers. it’s obvious driving through town they are not 90% Haitian you would have to be pretty stupid not to notice that even though you are not into the scene.

One way or another you always have to pay for the favors of the Ladies.

That's a short list. How are they doing?

No clue, I am actually curious to know the Demographics, to know who is staying, average duration of stay, % of total occupancy daily/weekly/monthly...

It is weird though that a resort would spend that kind of money in a town that has a reputation, considering there is a lack of travel agents sending clients to Sosua?

Is it a coincidence that an unofficial announcement for the 2nd cruise port called Taino Bay to be built in Puerto Plata was announced yesterday and President Medina to officially announce it on the 30th that these places got raided,I think maybe, maybe not.

Two cruise ports in Pto. Plata(?). What sense does that make?

Could be by design, however, unless they have tours slated to bring people to Sosua, not sure as to the why, re: Cruise ship thing? Most business owners I have talked to pretty much have all said the same thing, they basically don't get anyone from the cruise ships, however, as mentioned, that could be about to change, not sure what they are going to do while in Sosua though?

Look at LifeStyles in Cabarete..... a whopping investment after their original west of POP.

The area has traffic.

As has been said too many times before....
The POP/SOS/CAB area has fallen behind the newly built Punta Cana area.

Older everything

Reminds of Bermuda when it had the reputation of the most return visitors.....
Except it also had the lowest number of new visitors.....

Not a good recipe.

Ah, I get it now, it's cool to trash Sosua, because, well, just because...Funny, all the times I go to the beach I never see this ooze you speak of, nor anything in the water, or a smell. You'd really think if it was that bad, one of the previous things mentioned would occur, don't ya think?

I don't normally trash sosua. I spend a fair amount of time there, so that wouldn't make sense. But I do speak up (admittedly sometimes smart alecky) about the beach. I used to enjoy going to playa sosua, and enjoyed having a meal, just watching the water. Till a friend and I happened to hike in thru the woods (not playa media) and saw all the little shacks out behind the vendor shacks. There's a whole little village back there. I'm guessing there must be 20 to 30 shallow dug outhouse type toilets back there. That's not the kind of place I want to eat a meal. Or go in the water. I have this thing about flies landing on my food, and wondering what they might have been just previous to finding my dinner. I can't eat at the beach anymore.

No, never seen any oozing. That's just me being a smart aleck - my apologies. But, if you go up under the tree canopy after a hard rain, you can def smell the human slop waste wafting up.

It is what it is.

I actually saw a short video clip a few years back of what's "behind the curtain"/behind the vendor shacks, I can't remember if it was from Frank12?
