Pretty much so, the putas are still available but you have to go find them. Even late at night a few of the remaining hardcore chicas will work independencia. Nothing at all like in the past chicas working in groups of 5 or more, couldn't walk in Villars Hnos restaurant without a dozen hoes blocking the door, no more putas on the railing flaunting their merchandise at the casas, groups of mongers dining at Manolos gone. I guess it has been seven years or so since the cleanup. Lapus the puta bar got bull dozed down, Alegre (sp) take out bar got shut down and demolished. The remaining three casas on Pasteur are real low key.

Lapsus was a landmark...so was the one beside it. them was days....

Blue Collar Town in New Jersey
In the UK, Channel 4 made a documentary called Evil in Paradise about the sex tourism business in Dom Rep. My friend who is very high up in tourism told me that some very important people in government had been very bothered by it as it would have an effect on putting off families from coming to Punta Cana, which is the key target. I think this is probably at the heart of why Sosua and Boca Chica are being cleaned up. Nothing influences government policy here more than tourist dollars (and I'm not talking about the type of nickel-and-dime tourists who come for a cheap chica in Sosua).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZyppB5xTn4

There are so many errors and assumptions in this post I would not even know where to begin..
but just a couple worth mentioning
1)- no one cares about a Documentary in the UK..I can point you to a single Video in Youtube with many millions of views that has had a bigger impact in the sex tourist Image of the DR.. and affected said tourism, yes
2)- Punta Cana and Boca chica and sosua have NOTHING to do with each other .. not geographically, nor the types who travel there .. different Social Classes entirely...
3)- "high ranking" people who any of us, including you have rubbed up against, and there are at least a dozen people here in DR1 alone, who have a generals phone # in their cell, just in case ever .... those people do not have anywhere NEAR the juice to make Tourism Policy on a National Level... it comes straight down from the PRESIDENT, and perhaps the ex presidents Wife . simple as that and the people who have their EARS , you and i will never be rubbing up against in our lifetimes
4)- Nothing influences policy more than Tourists Dollars .. yes and no what influences is Big Money deals , and people getting heir Slice of it ... If a dozen AI's go out of business on the North Coast , it is none of their concern, or they would be Open and people would have those Jobs back.
Right now they are focused in the multi billion dollar Ships ,,because that is where their next thick slice of bread will be buttered .

5)- "nickle and dime cheap chica" ... no explanation needed here .
But I think jet blue would care & cut back on flights .. i think the hotels would care , i think the restaurants would care
and i dont think a single one of them offer their services for nickles and dimes ..

allrighty, kids. i am going to keep the musings on puta trade in SD - maybe slightly off topic but great historical and cultural value in those stories :cheeky:
the video "evil in paradise" is also slightly off the course as it covers boca chica and SD but ok to mention.

having said that, please keep a bit tighter connection to the theme of this particular thread. after all i know how much you care about the subject and how badly you want this thread to stay open so you can voice your ever so important concerns.

carry on.

An example of "the sausage effect" . Squeeze on one spot and things flow to another. An example of why prohibition never works. People in one spot might be happy that the problem is now someone else's.

You were the guy whose solution was to throw several thousand sex tourists in jail. Now prohibition never works. It would be swell if you could put a winking eye emoji after the post where you are kidding.

Come on now, being fair I think he only wanted the Jet Blue Crew thrown in jail. The expat monger and expat pedophile don't cause any problems so they can stay. wink-wink

Point taken. However, to reach several thousand, one would have to charter extra flights.

Pimps and putas talk is the new DR1 standard, didn't you know? :)

pimps and putas have always been a part of the Dominican landscape. why do you think that discussions of the topic have suddenly become the new currency on DR1?

I don't believe the scope of the discussion is necessarily Dominicans and prostitution as much as it has been made clearer that it isn't the case.

Much rather the implications of sex trades, sex tourism and visitors explicitly targeting Sosua because of the fact that it has been promulgated as a sex treasure where everything is valid, and not just putas and pimps.

i agree with you, but here is my puzzlement..

sex tourism in the DR is not a new phenomenon, and people have been coming here for sex for decades. i remember that as early as 1989, the word was all over the caribbean that the DR was where you wanted to be if you wanted some easy trim...the year sticks in my mind because that was the year i buried my dad, and some guys at the funeral were planning a trip to the DR.

i joined them.
